Analysing the integration of engineering in science lessons with the Engineering-Infused Lesson Rubric

ABSTRACT

Science teachers are being called on to incorporate engineering practices into their classrooms. This study explores whether the Engineering-Infused Lesson Rubric, a new rubric designed to target best practices in engineering education, could be used to evaluate the extent to which engineering is infused into online science lessons. Eighty lessons were selected at random from three online repositories, and coded with the rubric. Overall results documented the strengths of existing lessons, as well as many components that teachers might strengthen. In addition, a subset of characteristics was found to distinguish lessons with the highest level of engineering infusion. Findings are discussed in relation to the potential of the rubric to help teachers use research evidence-informed practice generally, and in relation to the new content demands of the U.S. Next Generation Science Standards, in particular.     

基于GPS、GIS、GPRS的保险业车载调度系统方案研究与设计

本文首先对保险行业中的车载调度存在的问题做了一定的研究，并在此基础上设计出了基于GPS，GIS，GPRS三种技术于一体的一种车载调度系统，此系统能实现监控车辆的“实时在线”，并能采用”就近”原则使勘察车辆(人员)快速到达事故现场，因此能够提高保险行业中车载调度的公正性及有效性。     

Effects of an Educational Experience Incorporating an Inventory of Factors Potentially Influencing Student Acceptance of Biological Evolution

This investigation provides an extensive review of scientific, religious, and otherwise non-scientific factors that may influence student acceptance of biological evolution. We also measure the extent to which students' levels of acceptance changed following an educational experience designed to address an inclusive inventory of factors identified as potentially affecting student acceptance of evolution (n = 81, pre-test/post-test) n = 37, one-year longitudinal). Acceptance of evolution was measured using the Measure of Acceptance of the Theory of Evolution (MATE) instrument among participants enrolled in a secondary-level academic programme during the summer prior to their final year of high school and as they transitioned to the post-secondary level. Student acceptance of evolution was measured to be significantly higher than initial levels both immediately following and over one year after the educational experience. Results reported herein carry implications for future quantitative and qualitative research as well as for cross-disciplinary instruction plans related to evolutionary science and non-scientific factors which may influence student understanding of evolution.     

Collateral Learning in Science: Students’ responses to a cross‐cultural unit of work

The purpose of this study was to investigate the nature of students’ responses to a cross‐cultural science unit entitled “Maintaining health.” The unit was designed to help students to build bridges between their traditional practices and beliefs and western science concepts. This paper reports students’ responses to a pre‐test and post‐test, and their reflections on their learning. The responses were analysed using the collateral learning model. There was evidence of parallel, dependent, and secured collateral learning. The implications for science teaching and for assessing science learning are discussed.     

基于创新能力培养的实验教学改革的探索——以“生物化学与分子生物学”为例

实验教学是培养大学生创新能力的重要途径和手段,但是传统实验教学模式存在较多问题,不能满足培养高素质医学人才的要求。"生物化学与分子生物学"是临床医学专业的基础课,而实验教学是该课程教学内容的一部分,是培养医学生创新能力的重要途径和手段。以"生物化学与分子生物学"实验教学为例,从优化实验教学设计、丰富实验教学内容、改革考核方式等方面进行实践和总结,阐述如何在实验教学中培养学生创新思维,提升实验教学质量,为实验教学改革提供新的思路和参考。     

中国农业文化遗产研究与保护实践的主要进展

中国农业文明历史悠久,农民们在长期生产实践过程中一直在寻求适应不同自然条件的生产方式,创造了灿烂的农业文化遗产。发端于20世纪初,以农业考古、农业历史、传统农业哲学及农业民俗学等为主要内容的农业遗产研究,为农业文化遗产研究奠定了基础。2005年以"青田稻鱼共生系统"被FAO列为首批GIAHS保护试点为标志的新时期农业文化遗产研究与保护实践探索,正体现出多学科合作、理论研究与实践探索并重、保护与发展协调的特征。本文从古籍整理与考古研究、概念与内涵研究、系统结构与作用机制研究、多功能性与生态系统服务研究等角度介绍了农业文化遗产的基础性研究进展,从动态保护途径研究、法律与政策保障研究和保护与发展实践探索等方面总结了近几年开展的工作与取得的成效。并在此基础上,提出了农业文化遗产研究与保护实践中应当注意的问题,包括:进一步丰富研究内容,重视典型传统生态农业模式的机理性、定量化研究;从多学科与跨学科的角度研究农业文化遗产;加快开展农业文化遗产的普查与价值挖掘工作;重视农业文化遗产的创新、发展及可持续利用;重视农业生物多样性与农业文化多样性两个方面的保护,在做好"两个保护"的前提下,促进地区的发展和农民生活水平的提高,并为现代农业发展提供支持;避免"原汁原味"的"冷冻式"保护和"大拆大建"的"破坏性"开发两种错误倾向;逐步建立农业文化遗产保护的多方参与机制,包括政府的主导作用,社区的积极参与,科技的有力支撑,企业的有效介入,媒体的跟踪宣传;使农业文化遗产地成为开展科学研究的平台,展示传统农业文明的窗口,生态-文化型农产品的生产基地,农业文化旅游的目的地。     

浅谈生物教学中的创新教育

Reviewing the Family Unit as a Stakeholder in Talent Development: Is It Undervalued?

As elite youth sport becomes more organized and professionalized, the role of the family is increasingly acknowledged as being significant in the development of young talent. High-profile examples across a range of professional sports, both positive and negative, have drawn attention toward this important stakeholder. Accordingly, this review first examines the key issues in relation to family involvement in talent development in relation to what is perceived as good and bad practice on behalf of the family. Next the key theoretical underpinning is considered, Family Systems Theory, and how it may be integrated within elite youth sport. Finally, the article concludes with a summary of where the current literature leaves us and where we can progress from here. Two possible inputs are suggested that could benefit the effectiveness of family involvement: a focus on the family holistically and a second on the role different family members can play.     

普通高校田径运动发展滞后的质疑与思考

采用调查法,对田径运动滞后情况进行分析。结果表明多年来绝大多数普通高校体育教学,采用学生自选模式授课,学生对田径课不感兴趣,很少学生选课,其原因是多方面的。建议尽快完善普通高校体育教学体系,防止中学与大学体育脱节,加强田径运动价值观的再认识,重视学校田径运动的发展。
