基于接口参数的第三方数据同步系统设计与实现

分析现有的图书管理系统与校园“一卡通”接口模式,并以华东理工大学图书馆与校园“一卡通”系统的数据同步为例,介绍在不修改图书馆现有系统的前提下,实现图书馆集成系统与“一卡通”系统的集成。提出基于接口参数的通用数据同步程序的设计方案,并重点介绍集成方案中基于第三方同步的校园“一卡通”与图书馆系统数据接口的实现。     

后现代主义与中国新时期文学

Child abuse among the Zulus: A people in cultural transition

Due to industrialization and Westernization the life-style of the Zulu people has undergone a rapid and radical change. This has led to a breakdown of the traditional culture and has not been replaced by an adequate social support structure. Consequently, the social ills of the First World abound and are compounded by persistent beliefs in witchcraft and the power of the ancestral spirits. The Zulu child has thus been exposed to a wide variety of abuses including sheer brutality, ongoing “minor” trauma, neglect, sexual and alcohol abuse. The extended family of yesteryear no longer exists to absorb the stresses and the nuclear family is frequently incomplete. Some contributions towards a solution are seen in (1) Appropriate education at every possible level; (2) Promoting formal and informal community support groups; (3) Screening mothers perinatally; (4) Developing and promoting an adoption service; and (5) Improving primary health care facilities.     

Exploring pedagogies to elevate inquiry: teaching action research in the third space

ABSTRACT

This study chronicles a semester long inquiry focused on the impacts of pedagogical strategies informed by the tenets of third space theory on my own practices and understanding of students’ learning outcomes in an action research course. As I applied new instructional strategies to promote discourse and critical inquiry, I reflexively explored how these approaches enhanced my impacts on students’ learning and praxis of action research. This paper first provides a brief introduction to third space theory and then describes how I infused this framework into my course approach, the different types of data collected and analyzed to gauge the impacts of new pedagogies, and findings that emerged. These are summarized in relation to the conditions that both undergirded and elevated students’ engagement, and directions for further research to advance the praxis of action research across teacher education contexts.

Institutional and Student Factors and Their Influence on Advanced Mathematics Achievement

Abstract

The author examined advanced mathematics achievement with 1,839 students from 162 schools. The data were obtained from the Third International Mathematics and Science Study Population 3 cohort; the author used hierarchical (multilevel) linear modeling to examine student- and school-level factors. Even within the advanced mathematics cohort, gender and economic disparities existed, but the magnitude of these disparities varied from school to school. Average parent education was observed to be associated with the magnitude of the coefficient for attitude toward mathematics on achievement. The more a student believed that success in mathematics was caused by natural ability, the higher the score on the test. Finally, resources, school size, and average parent education were significantly associated with school mean achievement in advanced mathematics.
