本文尝试运用系统功能语言学中的语域理论来分析鲁迅先生的一篇散文《聪明人和傻子和奴才》,从语域理论的三个方面-语场（field）、语旨（tenor)和语式（mode)分析文章的象征意义,理解作者深层次创作意图,从而更清楚有效的评估译文翻译是否同原文在概念意义、人际意义和语篇意义上对等。     

Cultural Connotation and Translation of English Proverbs

There are more and more cross cultural communication nowadays. Different cultures have different features. Proverbs, as an essential part of language, reflecting the culture of a nation, have cultural connotations about geography, history, customs and religion. Therefore, in this paper I intend to analyze cultural connotations in English proverbs, and to discuss the translation strategy- Domestication and Foreignization, then to put forwards three aspects that should be paid attention to in English proverbs translation.

诗歌是融信息、美感和表情功能于一体的一种文学体裁。本文以奈达的"功能对等"为向导,分析许渊冲先生和翁显良先生的《静夜思》两译本在信息、美感和表情方面的功能对等,旨在洞察不同译者对原诗的不同解读及他们的翻译风格。     

Problems and Issues in Translating International Educational Achievement Tests

The article reviews research and findings on problems and issues faced when translating international academic achievement tests. The purpose is to draw attention to the problems, to help to develop the procedures followed when translating the tests, and to provide suggestions for further research. The problems concentrate on the following: the unique and demanding purpose of the translation task, the partly contradictory task specifications and translation instructions, the indecision as to whether to produce one or two target versions, the indecision as to whether to use one or two source versions, inadequate revision and verification, deficient translator competences, and a lack of time. To solve the problems, the article suggests the following: ensuring that the translation guidelines provide a right, unequivocal, and balanced picture of the purpose of the translation task; ensuring the equivalence of the two source versions; putting more emphasis on revision, and ensuring that the verification is sufficiently thorough; using only qualified translators, providing them with training in test translation, and including also subject matter and testing specialists in the translation teams; and allotting sufficient time to the translation work. However, the main lesson from the review is that more research in the field is badly needed.     

The Application of the Functional Equivalence in the Translation of Chinese Tourist Guide

In recent years,with the rapid growth of Chinese tourism,more and more foreigners come to China to travel.The translation of Chinese tourist guide has become an effective way to publicize China and promote the development of Chinese tourism.The thesis mainly analyzes the application of the functional equivalence in the translation of Chinese tourist guide from the reader’s reception and response,and suggests some different translation techniques such as conversion,recasting,analogy and creative translation to make the translation of Chinese tourist guide better accepted by the target language readers.
