A positive future for educational psychology – if the profession gets it right

Recent Annual Courses of the Association of Educational Psychologists (2006–2008) have each focused on aspects of positive psychology either in keynote speeches or in workshops. This paper argues that whilst educational psychologists (EPs) are right to be positive about the future, the profession is currently undergoing a period of rapid change and uncertainty that will likely bring its own discomfort and challenges. EPs will not be immune from the emotional impact of change and stress and it is imperative to be positive, forward looking and skilled at scoping the evolving environment in order to take advantage of developing opportunities. Additionally, practising professionals should not underestimate the importance of individual casework, assessment and therapeutic interventions and ensure they are sufficiently skilled to be able to undertake this work in conjunction with their existing activities. It is argued that although the profession does have the potential for a vibrant future, it is incumbent upon participating professionals to get it right by being seen as relevant to the current challenges.     

Applied psychology and the case for individual casework: some reflections on the role of the educational psychologist

The authors consider the changing role of educational psychology in the current era and emphasise the importance of casework‐based interventions not only for influencing systemic work but also for maintaining credibility within the educational marketplace. With in‐school counselling and intervention becoming more popular, the natural providers of this service should be educational psychologists but this may not be the case in many local authorities. The authors consider the possibility of the profession becoming obsolete if there is a continuation of the move away from individual interventions to a more consultative based approach.

由于冯特的实验研究结果缺少验证性,始而招致对其主题、方法、理论的质疑,继而引起欧美国家的反结构主义运动。而真正掀起反结构主义浪潮的是美国本土的机能主义心理学,其目的在于研究个体适应环境时所产生的心理功能。在此理念下适应和实用成了机能主义的中心思想。而机能主义心理学却是在詹姆斯实用主义心理学思想的影响下形成的。本文就詹姆斯的实用主义心理学思想做简要述评。

厌学是技校生中普遍存在的现象,消除学生的消极心理,除了学校、老师和家长的教育外,引入平等竞争意识,培养终身学习的习惯,对于引导学生由消极心理向积极心理转变也是至关重要的。     

论美国对朝政策的“变”与“不变”——兼论奥巴马政府的对朝政策趋向

美国的对朝政策在＂变＂的外衣里具有＂不变＂的内核。＂不变＂的内核源自于美朝两国的意识形态差异、决策者的思想认识、对朝鲜的认知以及民情舆论,表现为对朝鲜持强硬立场且不受党派影响。认知心理学认为,观感一旦形成,短时间内难有实质性改变,美国的对朝政策典型反映了这种状况。此外,受到国际战略格局变化的影响,美国往往需要与其他国家相互协调彼此的对朝政策,因此又不得不朝温和方向进行调整。克林顿和小布什各自的对朝政策都经历了从对抗到谈判的转变的过程,但基本立场并没有发生变化。奥巴马的上台虽然为美国对外政策带来了新气象,但在朝鲜政局没有发生大的变化的前提下,美国新总统的对朝政策仍将在对抗的＂不变＂与谈判的＂变＂之间摇摆。

消除女大学生“贫困心理”影响的策略研究

大学生心理状况总体呈现健康稳定的发展态势,但女生的心理问题呈增长趋势,其中贫困家庭女生的心理问题更为突出。其诱因既有显而易见的教育失衡、学业纷扰、就业压力等,也有贫困问题。通过＂唤醒教育＂来解决大学生与贫困关联的心理困顿是笔者研究的焦点,其研究有助于推动高校学生政治思想工作的深入开展。
