Sonic Earthquakes

This is an ethnographic study of youths who put elaborate sound systems in their automobiles. I argue that participants in loud car stereo culture share an aesthetic agency, using sound and mobility to construct environments (discussed in this article as mobile heterotopias) that challenge the spatial and temporal constraints of daily life. Their actions and stories speak to, and exist within, broader contemporary debates in the United States about music and noise in public places. Moreover, their sonic booms confront and undermine official attempts to regulate contemporary life and to sanitize public spaces.     

Surveillance/Discipline/Resistance: Carly Fiorina under the Gaze of The Wall Street Journal

This essay examines how news discourses of former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina shaped her professional persona throughout her tenure with the company. At a time when only eight out of the Fortune 500 companies had female CEOs, she was often identified as the most powerful female CEO in the United States. This high-profile position brought with it much media attention and focus on her gender, her performance, and her “visibility.” Through a Foucauldian analysis of The Wall Street Journal, I illustrate how Fiorina's public identity was shaped and disciplined through the popular press and explore the opportunities for resisting certain subject positions. This analysis reveals the complex relationships between organizations and broader social discourses that involve gendered workplaces, glass ceilings, and even the role of the visual in organizational life.     

“互联网+”背景下街舞啦啦操微课教学设计及其数字平台建设研究

当前,教育信息化已经发展成为一种必然趋势,这是国家新时期教育改革和发展规划的重要方向。在相关的教育发展规划中,也提出要进一步加快教育基础设施建设,开发优质的教育资源,构建国家教育管理信息系统等工作目标。其中关于"三通两平台"的建设的思路,也为新时期的课程教育提出了新的要求和方向。微课作为新时期的信息化课程教学模式之一,在目前的教育中应用越来越广泛,很多学科在教学中都逐渐接触和应用该教学模式,实践效果比较突出。对此,本文研究互联网+背景下,将微课教学设计和平台,应用到街舞啦啦操的教学中,分析以街舞啦啦操为课程教学内容的微课教学设计及数字化平台建设路径,为微课在街舞啦啦操课程教学中的更好应用奠定基础。     

历史文化街区的旅游开发--安徽屯溪老街实例研究

以安徽屯溪老街为例,在对屯溪老街旅游资源特征和开发现状分析的基础上,认为老街旅游产品必需具备三个条件:传统商业街景、购物行为、人气,同时针对老街旅游产品基本特征提出了老街保护与开发的基本原则及方法,对历史文化街区旅游开发进行了探讨.

Problem solving as a function of abstract or concrete words

Two groups of undergraduates were required to verbally reorder previously memorized pairs of nouns to detect the underlying structural relationship or chain among certain memorized pairs. While the types of word chains were always structurally identical for the two groups, the groups differed as to whether the list of word pairs were concrete or abstract nouns. Subjects who received concrete words both memorized the pairs and solved the problems in less time than did subjects who received abstract word pairs. Superior performance was supposedly due to the differential effect of imaginai versus verbal encoding. Implications were discussed regarding both educational and psychological issues.     

Intercultural education for multicultural societies: Critical issues

This article presents evidence for the need for intercultural education in multicultural societies. Pupils who are culturally different from the majority need it to learn to function effectively in their own culture as well as in the majority culture. Since an important objective of education is to prepare individuals to function effectively in their environment, all children in multicultural societies could profit from exposure to effective intercultural education. Our research with American teachers and their Latin American or Hispanic pupils suggests that teachers also need to learn about the patterns of perceptions, values, and behaviors of culturally different pupils. Objections to intercultural education are listed and refuted. Advantages and disadvantages of three new approaches to intercultural education are discussed. Special attention is given to the attributional approach, an informational approach which is particularly well suited for use in educational settings. Research bearing on the effectiveness of this approach is presented.

此文根据元胞自动机论分析道路交通流,以行人利益为中心,方便行人为第一前提,从双向行人需求、车辆需求、行人车辆交互三方面建立行人过街方式模型,研究设计同时满足行人和车辆需求的交通管制方案的可行性,并给出了特例分析。模型考虑了行人产生概率、违规概率、群聚违规概率对车流和行人流的影响。提出了在保证行人安全便捷的前提下提高道路交通效率的意见方法。
