From the Margins to the Mainstream: Potential Impact of Early Colleges on Traditional High Schools

Early colleges are one alternative to the traditional comprehensive high school. This article describes the establishment of an early college in partnership with a university, including the experiences for students, the challenges for teachers, and the difficulties in bridging higher and kindergarten through Grade-12 educations. The article considers the potential for these new, small high schools to impact the traditional high school.     

心理学能否从实证的标准中解放出来

人的心理活动具有很大的不确定性和非实证性。然而近半个世纪以来,心理学研究却长期被实证标准所垄断,非实证性的心理学研究地位经常受到人们的怀疑与批评。在现代心理学持续发展的关键时刻,理论性的课程几乎一度完全从欧美大学教学中消失,而技术性的研究标准取得了支配性的地位。近20年来受科学哲学中后实证主义思潮的影响,西方一些心理学家开始反思与质疑实证研究中普遍存在的问题,认为实证研究标准作为科学的一种标志已经证明并不成功,心理学研究需要从这种根深蒂固的实证主义传统中解放出来。目前我国心理学界正遭遇着被实证研究所主宰的格局,继续强化实证研究被视为改革开放30年来我国心理学蓬勃发展的一大“成功经验”。而要调整及改变这种实证研究评价标准,克服这种简单、偏窄的科学观和洞穴思维．我国学者尚需要付出巨大的艰辛努力。

‘So,how does one define a friendship?’: Identifying friendship among students using AAC in inclusive education settings*

The characteristics of friendships among children who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) are not well understood. Research on friendships among children without disabilities has identified similarity to each other as a key characteristic among friends. The aim of this study was to identify and describe the friendships between students using AAC and fellow students in Norwegian mainstream public schools. Participants were students using AAC in first to fourth class, fellow students, parents, and staff. Data were analysed using a constructive grounded theory approach. The participants provided diverse reports about the friendships, although all students using AAC reported having friendships at school. The friendships were described by parents and staff as superficial and students using AAC were seldom perceived as playmates by fellow students. The results indicated that friendships between students using AAC and fellow students were often unilateral. The results are discussed along with the implications for future research.

通过对奥运会研究文献的分析,认为“后奥运”议题不单单被用于代表奥运会刚结束后的一段发展时期,更是反思、批判以及试图超越奥林匹克现状的一种思维方式和实际做法。奥运会面临着身体的“非自然性”、道德堕落、比赛舞弊、不平等、景观霸权、官员腐败等一系列问题,甚至作为解决问题的政策和青奥会本身也成了反思、批判和试图超越的对象。有必要研究奥林匹克组织的脉络;鼓励参与决定,注意领导权力的转移;重视沟通与对话,强调多元的观点;思考中国对奥运会的影响。     

历届奥运会金牌分布与我国竞技体育发展的战略抉择

运用文献资料、数理统计和逻辑分析法,在洲、国家、项目3个层次上勾画现代竞技体育优势转移的路线,分析其转移的规律和影响因素,提出我国竞技体育的战略抉择。研究认为,现代竞技体育优势越来越分散;优势的获取受地理和人口环境的影响日趋突出;国家传统体育项目的水平决定着该国竞技优势的走向;现代竞技体育优势国家在项目优势上表现出鲜明的民族和文化特色等。影响现代竞技体育优势转移的因素主要有:民族文化与体育认知,政治环境与体育体制,经济水平与体育投入,国土面积与人口数量,国际竞技体育总体发展水平和以奥运会为代表的竞技体育赛事的发展变化。     

Convictions and skepticisms of an Indian feminist scholar: an interview with Tejaswini Niranjana

In this interview with the Guangzhou-based newspaper Southern Metropolis Daily, conducted in December 2010 during her participation of the ‘West Heavens: India-China Summit on Social Thought’, Tejaswini Niranjana questions accepted notions about women and development, explains the reasons for finding alternative reference points in each other for non-Western societies, which resulted in the historical emergence of Cultural Studies in India, and speaks for the need for substantive mutual cultural exposure between India and China.     

Alternative Interpretations of Alternative Assessments: Some Validity Issues in Educational Performance Assessments

The use of alternative assessments has led many researchers to reexamine traditional views of test qualities, especially validity. Because alternative assessments generally aim at measuring complex constructs and employ rich assessment tasks, it becomes more difficult to demonstrate (a) the validity of the inferences we make and (b) that these inferences extrapolate to target domains beyond the assessment itself. An approach to addressing these issues from the perspective of language testing is described. It is then argued that in both language testing and educational assessment we must consider the roles of both language and content knowledge, and that our approach to the design and development of performance assessments must be both construct-based and task-based.¹

新中国的成立实现了中国现代化道路的重大转变，即从资本主义的现代化道路转变为社会主义的现代化道路。十年建设时期，中国共产党在领导经济建设和探索现代化发展道路的过程中，由于各种复杂因素的影响，与现代化发生了背离，出现了反现代化的趋向和因素。两种趋向同时并存，相互交织，最终导致反现代化压倒现代化，造成了现代化进程的中断，使中国现代化面临着严重的危机。作为历史的补偿，现代化与反现代化的双重变奏孕育了中国现代化模式的创造性转换，从此中国的现代化建设步入了顺利发展的新阶段。
