The study aims to demonstrate evidence of (a) students’ conceptual change on solution rates; (b) students’ sub‐microscopic explanations of dissolution; and (c) retention of the concepts of solution rates. The sample consists of 44 Grade 9 students (18 boys and 26 girls) drawn purposively from two different classes (22 each) in the city of Trabzon, Turkey. The current study incorporates multiple methods of data collection: items from a solution concept test, clinical interviews and examination of students’ self‐assessment tasks. The results reveal that there is a statistically significant difference between scores in pre‐test and post‐test and between pre‐test and delayed test (p < 0.05). This research indicates that the intervention has improved students’ understanding of the conceptual relationship between solution rates and the sub‐microscopic explanation of dissolution. It has also helped in overcoming students’ alternative conceptions to some extent. However, alternative conceptions have not been eliminated completely. In the light of the results, this current study suggests that a simple model such as the four‐step constructivist teaching (4E) is efficient.  相似文献

This qualitative research study traces the motivations for teaching of 13 teacher candidates enrolled in an urban-based alternative certification program. After using a push–pull factor analysis, the data suggest that most participants left their previous careers due to financial shortcomings or work instability. As a result, these participants were also less attracted to teaching based on altruistic reasons when compared to those whose major motivation to teach occurred as part of a quest for personal fulfillment.  相似文献

Elementary school English activation curriculum, an additional two culture classes, has been implemented only in New Taipei City in Taiwan starting from 2010, so only a few studies focus on it. This is a case study of an English teacher's integration of a school's features into the activation curriculum in a rural elementary school. This study revealed students' positive attitude towards such curriculum, the students’ preference for the English teacher's use of a wide variety of activities and the implementation of alternative assessments; it also revealed the English teacher's expertise and pedagogical competence, developed in collaboration with other teachers.  相似文献

This paper examines the values, vision and practice originally outlined in a proposal for a secondary phase resourced provision for young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The provision was based on a well-established model (the ‘Jarjums Room’) which had been implemented in Cherbourg Primary School in Eastleigh, England. The article offers a first-hand narrative account of the way that this initiative, the ‘Galigir Room’, was conceptualised, successfully embraced and implemented, thanks to the commitment of a senior leadership team, a group of staff and governors and the foresight and support of the local secondary school.  相似文献

In the digital age, the Dewey Decimal System is pushing library users toward easier information finding aides such as Google. If the profession does not find a way to maximize the collections and the library as third place, patrons will never embrace the newer technologies and services available through their local public library. The national media converged on Baltimore, Charleston, and Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014 and 2015 to cover protests in response to police violence toward African American males. Although national and local media covered the events and the aftermath, alternative media sought to provide additional viewpoints and spur readers to respond. This study analyzed the practices, content, and public discourse connected to alternative weekly newspapers in Baltimore, Charleston, and St. Louis. The study examined whether the publications reflected ideal roles of alternative media, including representing different viewpoints, using non-traditional methods of content, and providing a space for the public to challenge systems of power and oppression. The authors also studied the online forums associated with all three publications, including each organization’s website and Facebook page, as potential spaces for alternative publics to emerge around a shared interest in collective action. The publications showed some characteristics of the ideal form of alternative media, but most lacked the diverse voices and critical calls to action needed to represent the normative standard. The discourse the news organizations spurred also fell short of the ideal. The forums lacked rational and critical engagement, and commenters largely failed to promote sincere attempts to engage in community conversation.  相似文献

商业秘密侵权救济制度是强是弱,对于商业秘密权利能否得到有效保护极为重要。我国商业秘密侵权救济制度的相对弱化,严重束缚了商业秘密保护效能的发挥,对商业秘密没有起到应有的保护作用。学习、借鉴美国《统一商业秘密法》的有益经验,增设我国商业秘密禁令和潜在侵占救济制度,不失为强化我国商业秘密侵权救济的路径选择。  相似文献

随着社会思想与文化多元化的进一步发展,大学校园里多有出现对程度副词另类应用流行的情况——另类程度状语。这种新鲜活泼、个性独特的语言变体现象,既彰显着学生们的朝气和活力,也反映了他们的心理需求。在对构成该类状语词语的语法、语义、语音、语用特点作解释的基础上,进一步对其形成与流行原因的有关认知、理据、社会心理等进行描写,并就其未来发展态势做出初步判断。  相似文献
