Purpose: Scholarship is essential for the growth and development of the physical education field. Over time, scholarship expectations have changed, forcing faculty members to alter time spent for research, teaching, and service. Social-cognitive career theory (SCCT) presents a model for understanding performance and persistence in an occupational environment. The interconnected aspects of SCCT have different emphasis related to self-efficacy, outcome expectations, or personal goals pursuit. This study explored physical education teacher education (PETE) faculty members’ continuing engagement in scholarly activity through SCCT. Method: Data collection included interviews with 9 senior PETE faculty members who met the criteria for “productive scholars over time.” Curriculum vitae were collected to verify productivity. Results: Data analysis revealed guidepost themes that included collaborating, finding balance, defining a research process, and maintaining a strong work ethic. Roadblocks encountered included other obligations and lack of support for research. Conclusions: Participants demonstrated strong self-efficacy; held high, positive expectations for success; and set very specific, clear, and deliberate goals. Participant behavior was moderated by their personal attributes (capacity to build relationships, set goals, and maintain interest and passion) and was tempered by the environments in which they worked. Fostering similar behaviors has the potential to guide future and current PETE faculty members in creating supportive and encouraging atmospheres for sustained productivity. The lack of literature relating to this topic warrants the need for more research exploring the influential factors and benefits gained from sustained scholarly productivity over time for PETE faculty members.  相似文献

As part of Ireland's National Digital Strategy, high-speed broadband is being rolled out to all second-level schools to support greater use of information and communication technology (ICT) in education. This programme signals a move from slow and unreliable broadband connections for many schools to a guaranteed high-speed connection with technical support. Theoretically, this should allow for behaviours and pedagogies to adapt, incorporating ICT into education. Research shows that integrating ICT into teaching and learning is a gradual process for most teachers and is influenced by a complex mix of socio-technical factors. Our data set consists of survey data from teachers and principals from a sample of second-level schools. The survey collected factual and attitudinal variables including attitudes towards ICT integration, current availability of infrastructure and barriers to ICT use, before schools received high-speed broadband connectivity. We examine the factors influencing teachers’ attitudes to ICT and their perceived barriers in adopting new technologies in their day-to-day teaching. Analysis of this baseline period is essential in an iterative digital strategy, informing future strategies, targeting policy most effectively and achieving policy objectives. While attitudes towards the potential of high-speed broadband and use of ICT are consistently positive across sub groups of schools and teachers, perceived barriers to ICT usage differ.  相似文献

Abstract

Growth in size and popularity of the Web over the last 10 years has been remarkable. There are now many calls to make the Web the center of K-12 schooling. However, there are many problems that must be solved before the Web can be fully integrated into curricula in public schools. Such problems can be categorized as practical or pedagogical in nature. Pedagogical problems include those barriers to Web integration that are caused by the nature of the education subculture and the culture at large. 运用文献资料、录像观察、数理统计等方法对第28届奥运会中外男篮快攻能力的各项指标数据进行了比较分析,结果表明:中国男篮在快攻次数、快攻得分以及快攻成功率上都和与赛队存在明显的差距。通过观察比赛录像,分析了差距的原因,并提出了相应的建议。  相似文献

针对体操普修课教学时数减少的情况下,如何高质量的完成教学任务,克服传统教学模式存在的弊端等问题,采用对比实验法,以牡丹江师范学院体育系2002级本科学生为研究对象,进行了"升降"式和"常规"式技术教学对比试验,并通过查阅文献资料以及数理统计等方法,对学生结业成绩进行分析,结果显示:实验班和对照班的学生学习成绩存在显著性差异,证明这种"升降"式教学方法具有可行性、实用性和实效性.  相似文献

2015年,我国经济增长处于下行通道中,预计全年GDP增速约为6.9%左右。展望2016年,我国经济增长在面临国际国内诸多挑战的同时,也有深化改革带来的有利因素。预计2016年中国经济增速仍将进一步减缓,全年GDP增速约在6.7%左右,呈现前低后高趋势,预计上半年GDP增速为6.5%左右,下半年GDP增速有望达到6.8%左右。当前中国经济需要重点解决产能过剩与有效需求不足、杠杆率过高与潜在系统性风险过大、资源配置效率不高和经济增长质量不高等核心问题。  相似文献
