新课改背景下农村高中英语的困难与对策

新课程改革的实施对高中英语的教学理念、教学内容、教学目标、教学过程、教学方式、教学评价等都提出了新的更高的要求,要求教师在教学中引入新的教学理念,合理安排教学内容,并在了解学生个性特点和认知特点的基础上,灵活地运用各种教学方法和方式,培养学生综合运用英语的能力,促进学生的终身发展。但由于农村高中存在的种种问题,如学生基础水平差、教师素质较低、教学资源缺乏等,在新课程改革的背景下,其学习和教学仍然达不到理想的效果,甚至处于落后的状态,更谈不上跟上社会发展的形势了。因此,为了解决这一问题,在分析新课程改革背景下高中英语存在的困难的同时,提出了解决的对策,以期能为高中英语教学质量的提高提供些许帮助。     

高职高专商务英语专业顶岗实习的问题分析及对策研究

顶岗实习是高职高专院校工学结合培养人才的重要途径。本文以黑龙江农业工程职业学院的商务英语专业为例分析学生顶岗实习现状,发现存在的问题,提出相应的解决对策,为该专业顶岗实习提供借鉴。     

浅谈大学英语精读教学中的“导入”

文章通过分析传统英语精读课的教学模式及其存在的弊端,阐述了在精读课堂中合理地设计“导入”环节在整个教学中的积极意义,以及如何有效地利用这一环节来改善英语精读课教与学的现状,提高英语教学效率。     

The role of orthographic flexibility in Chinese word reading among kindergarten children

Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the potential importance of orthographic flexibility for Chinese reading acquisition. Orthographic flexibility is a novel concept that represents the ability to manage and switch attention among multiple aspects of orthographic information. A total of 92 Chinese kindergarten children at age 6 were assessed on measures of orthographic flexibility, orthographic knowledge, executive functions (EF) skills (i.e. cognitive flexibility and working memory) and Chinese word reading. Results of hierarchical regressions showed that orthographic flexibility uniquely and significantly contributed to word reading beyond the effects of established predictors, namely orthographic knowledge and EF skills. Path analysis further indicated that orthographic flexibility significantly mediated the contribution of EF skills to word reading. These findings provided theoretical insights into the linkage between domain-general EF skills and domain-specific reading ability. The present study also provided practical implication that training on orthographic flexibility in addition to orthographic knowledge could be beneficial to early acquisition of Chinese word reading.

Building a whole school approach and teacher efficacy with English language learners

Current professional development initiatives show a preference for whole school approaches. However, pedagogy related to English language learners (ELLs) is often not widely dispersed in New Zealand primary schools, impacting on teacher efficacy with these learners. This paper discusses findings from a qualitative study which aimed to identify influences shaping the dispersal of ELL-related pedagogy in two schools in contrasting socio-economic areas. Data from semi-structured individual interviews with teachers at different class levels revealed unique patterns for the dispersal of ELL-related pedagogy in each school. Teacher data indicated that these patterns were influenced by the performance of ELLs in national standards testing, as well as the special characteristics of ELLs in each setting and the distinctive nature of each context. The dispersal of ELL pedagogy in each school impacted differentially on opportunities to build a sense of collective teaching efficacy with ELLs in that setting, but also raised questions about whether one size should be expected to fit all.
