Just the Facts: An Examination of E-Book Usage by Business Students and Faculty

Business students and faculty expect the electronic delivery of content within their multiple disciplinary subject areas. The speed of acceptance and the rate of migration from print to electronic sources within the various business disciplines outpaces the acceptance rates in the humanities and other social sciences. Business students and faculty exhibit information-seeking behaviors that are unique to the practice-oriented nature of a business education. Electronic resources re-enforce this information-seeking behavior. The technology utilized in the creation of e-books enables business students and faculty to successfully locate specific data, both textual and numeric within the resource, further reinforcing their behaviors and accelerating the demand for additional e-books. Business students and faculty use e-books as reference books.

《刺桐之声》频道是闽南语方言广播的节目,是用闽南乡音、乡情连结海峡两岸的交流平台,具有独特的魅力和深厚的文化底蕴,这是电台与其他广播频道及其他媒介进行差异化竞争的核心资源。本文对频道目前的广播听众人群特征、听众收听行为和广告收听行为进行实证调查研究,充分了解听众需要的产品信息、了解听众能够接受的广告播放频次、时长等信息,对电台的广告经营策略,将有一定的借鉴作用。     

Research Collaborations Between Public and Academic Libraries

Web-scale discovery systems are gaining momentum among academic libraries as libraries seek a means to provide their users with a one-stop searching experience. Illinois State University's Milner Library found itself in the unique position of having access to two distinct discovery products, EBSCO Discovery Service and Serials Solutions’ Summon. Two researchers at Milner conducted a usability study for the former product in 2010, and now two other researchers, including one involved with the EBSCO Discovery Service study, have conducted the same study on the latter product. The goals of the study were twofold: first, to identify user behavior while using discovery systems’ search features and to see whether using these features would improve the user's searching experience, and second, to compare user experiences with EBSCO Discovery Service and Summon at Illinois State University. The similarities and differences in user expectations, use, manipulation, and satisfaction with both discovery tools are explored in this article, with the ancillary hope that libraries investigating discovery tools might be able to make a more thoroughly informed choice in acquiring their own Web-scale discovery system.     

Using the Staff Sharing Scheme to support school staff in managing challenging behaviour more effectively

This paper explores how educational psychologists working in a training/consultative way can enable teachers to manage challenging pupil behaviour more effectively. It sets out a rationale which encourages schools to embrace a group based teacher peer-support system as part of regular school development. It then explores the usefulness of the Staff Sharing Scheme as an exemplar of such an approach from the perspective of school based participants. Through a case-study approach, the current findings suggest that group based peer-support programmes help teachers reflect on the causes of disruptive behaviour holistically and subsequently to problem solve in a more coherent manner. This leads to changes in teacher behaviour within the classroom. Issues of time and trust were identified as important obstacles to the potential development of such a scheme within the school.     

社交媒体用户健康信息传播行为的影响机制研究——基于风险认知与问题解决情境理论

[目的/意义] 探索社交媒体用户健康信息传播行为的影响因素,剖析其认知-动机-传播行为之间的关系,对于理解用户的健康传播行为,提供优质的健康信息服务具有重要意义。[方法/过程] 基于风险认知与问题解决情境理论,构建社交媒体用户的健康信息传播的影响机理模型,通过问卷调查和结构方程进行实证。[结果/结论] 结果表明,风险认知、问题认知和涉入认知通过情境动机正向影响信息传播行为;同时,社交媒体用户的文化程度影响其健康问题认知。     

Youth Perspectives on Parental Career Influence

The role of parents in youth career development is generally acknowledged though, often, perfunctorily. This inquiry examines youth perceptions of parental influence on their career development. We ask young men and women about specific career development attitudes and behaviors that bear on their relations with their parents. The sample consists of survey data from 362 high school juniors. The results confirm the trend of recent studies that report compatibility between parent and youth values, aspirations, and plans. Of all the people to whom youth can turn for help with making career plans, most look to their mothers. The findings apply across gender, to young men as well as young women; and they apply across race, to minority youth as well as majority-culture youth. The results underscore the importance of parents as allies and resources for career counselors in facilitating youth career development.

国外有关青少年问题行为成因的研究概述

国外就青少年问题行为成因的相关理论假设有:青少年危险行为模型,组合模型,生物心理社会模型,生态理论等。其青少年问题行为影响因素现状包括多因素影响研究和单因素影响研究。对此,我们应在国外研究设计的基础上,结合国内青少年问题行为影响因素的实际,作出应有的研究展望。     

论非语言行为的语义特征

非语言交际是不用词语的交际 ,是在特定的情景或语境中使用非语言行为交流和理解信息的过程。非语言行为形式众多 ,内容丰富 ,地域性强 ,民族文化背景制约着非语言行为的内涵。非语言行为既有先天本能性 ,又有后天习得性 ;既有自觉性 ,又有不自觉性 ;既有确切含义的 ,也有示意模糊的 ;既有语境敏感性、多义性 ,又有同义性和反义性。     

模仿行为与跨国公司在华研发机构的区位选择

本文主要研究了跨国公司在华研发机构的空间分布,指出北京和上海这两个城市存在外国研发机构过度集聚的现象。我们发现,传统的理性选择模型无法解释这一过度集中的现象。因此,本文基于区位选择的模仿行为模型,讨论了目前国内外资研发机构过度集中的问题。并进一步从树立城市形象、改善投资环境等方面分析了对国内其他二级城市①的启示。
