An analysis of the effects of in‐service teacher training on Turkish preschool teachers’ attitudes towards inclusion

Any implementation of an inclusive policy is largely dependent on educators’ attitudes. In Turkey, many teachers who educate preschool children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and who have not received in‐service teacher training (INSET) are observed to have negative attitudes towards their SEN students. The aim of this article is to examine differences between the attitudes of preschool teachers before and after an INSET course. Sixty‐six preschool teachers were selected for this study which had a single group pre–post‐test design. The teachers’ opinions and attitudes relating to mainstreaming SEN students in regular educational environments were assessed using the ‘Opinions Relative to Mainstreaming’ scale. The data indicate that these teachers were affected by the INSET programme in such a way that their attitudes towards the inclusion of SEN students became more positive.     

浅谈现代体育与促进生活方式改变探讨

分析现代体育进入人们日常生活方式的必然性,指出现代社会对人的要求不仅需要丰富的知识,更需要充沛的精力和体力;居民身心健康的不利影响及体育锻炼的重要性;倡导体育与健康的生活方式相结合是人们生活方式中的一个重要内容,强化人们健康的价值观念进而通过体育运动来养成健康的生活方式。     

Exploring the feasibility of a classroom‐based vocabulary intervention for mainstream secondary school students with language disorder

Vocabulary knowledge has been shown to be a predictor of academic success, posing a challenge for children and young people with language disorder. Language disorder can persist into adolescence and yet there is limited evidence on how to support the vocabulary skills of adolescents with language disorder in a mainstream setting. This article describes an experimental study aimed at investigating the feasibility of a whole‐class approach to increase the understanding and use of curriculum vocabulary in adolescents with language disorder. Ten curriculum words were taught by the science teacher using a phonological‐semantic approach, and 10 matched same‐topic words were taught using routine teaching practice. Progress was made post‐intervention in word knowledge of both low‐frequency experimental and control words, with significantly greater change in knowledge of the experimental words. Most students, and the teacher, viewed the phonological‐semantic word‐learning approach favourably.

The role played by grandparents in family support and learning: considerations for mainstream and special schools

The twenty‐first century family faces many demographic changes. Despite this, the importance of intergenerational relationships remains. This article initially reviews the literature surrounding the role that grandparents play in their children's families, highlighting a growing body of research demonstrating the important support role that grandparents play in the lives of families with non‐disabled children. In contrast, there is limited research on the role played by and support needs of grandparents to families with disabled children. Recognising the significance of ‘family’ rather than purely ‘parent’‐based partnerships in UK schools, this article considers the role and importance of grandparents in schools; in particular, intergenerational learning, and how schools can begin to include grandparents and also provide support to meet grandparents' own support needs. Despite a limited literature on schools working specifically with grandparents of children with SEN, some policy and practice issues are discussed and areas for future consideration suggested.     

论越野滑雪的特点与选材

在面对世界竞技体育的激烈竞争下,我国越野滑雪这一冬季运动项目正在不断发展、不断进步,当然搞好选材工作是越野滑雪取得优异成绩的重要措施之一.越野滑雪的选材需要从项目特点选拔身体形态、身体素质和雪感好的优秀少儿运动选手加以进一步的培养,在训练中进行检验,检验运动员是否适合于该运动项目,为培养高水平越野滑雪人才奠定基础.     

“越轨婚恋”——同性恋现象与新闻传媒的正视

长期以来同性恋是一个被边缘化的群落 ,被视为极端的“越轨婚恋”而受斥责与歧视 ,我国新闻传播特别是主流传统媒体鲜有涉猎报道 ,这也加剧了社会对这个问题的敏感性。随着改革开放公众对同性恋的态度正在发生变化 ,不再成为忌讳的话题。各类新闻传媒同样应顺应时代改变观念 ,抱以科学和求实的态度 ,客观、公正将同性恋纳入日常报道视野 ,并注意报道方法与度的把握 ,正确引导社会对这一特殊的群体给予更多的关注、了解 ,澄清误会 ,消除偏见 ,协助他们融入社会大家庭 ,求同存异地共创社会的物质文明与精神文明。
