Rediscovering the political dimension of the personal life story: results from an intergenerational narrative learning project with older adults in South Westphalia

Using qualitative interviews, focus groups, storytelling and collective journaling, the life experiences of people in a local village community, in South Westphalia, Germany, born between 1930 and 1945, were analysed collaboratively. The research intention was to give the younger generations in that region access to these experiences and insights, within the context of democratic learning and civic education. The focus of this narrative learning project was on the politically relevant issues and themes they contained, above all: the significance of free information and thought, a free cultural life, access to education for all children and youth, a self-determined life for women and girls, as well as cohesion and self-help structures in the social community. Many tales were shared from the Third Reich, making references to Wilhelmine Germany and the Republic of Weimar, including how these times had been narrated to them through their forebearers and families’ archives.

资本主义的民主政治可以区分为制度与形式两个方面。马克思在对法国革命的总结中,对于其制度是完全否定的,而对政治形式则是辩证的扬弃,并非一概否定。研究马克思1848年法国政治革命的总结,对于探索社会主义民主制度的新形式有其新的启示。     

Parents' involvement in adolescents' schooling: a multidimensional conceptualisation and mediational model

This study examined the impact of parental involvement on adolescents' academic achievement in Korean families. The major strengths of the current research are the study of multiple dimensions of parental involvement, the longitudinal design and the consideration of mediating variables. Structural equation modelling was used to examine the direct and indirect effects of parental involvement on students' academic achievement using data from a nationally representative sample of middle school students from the Korea Youth Panel Survey. Results indicated: (1) parental involvement dimensions positively influenced achievement through its effects on student self‐concept and locus of control; and (2) parents' increased participation in involvement practices (monitoring, educational expectation and affection) increases students' self‐concept and locus of control.     

从类型到制度化——西方民主政治场域中政党体制研究的视角转移

作为西方民主政治的实施机制,政党体制一直是西方民主政治研究的重要议题。纵观政党体制的研究历程可以发现,从类型到制度化的研究视角转移趋势日益明显。具体而言,政党体制一被视为西方民主政治的实施机制,就陷入了不同类型政党体制之于民主政治的优劣之论争上。但经验证明,两党制和多党制都能够产生稳定政府,维系民主政治的正常运作,因而单纯的政党体制类型论争,对于民主政治并无多大的实际意义。于是,20世纪下半期以来的许多学者开始摒弃了体制类型论争,而是借助制度化视角去关注每一政党体制自身承担西方民主政治实施机制功能的能力,从而出现了政党体制研究的视角转移。     

Paternal involvement in the statutory assessment of special educational needs

There are manifold benefits of parental involvement in a child’s education, but there is evidence of gender imbalances in parental involvement. This article describes research into fathers’ involvement with educational psychologists (EPs) working with children undergoing statutory assessment. A content analysis of children’s files from one educational psychology service was conducted to assess the level of paternal involvement in EPs’ work, and semi‐structured interviews with eight fathers were used to identify factors that affected their involvement with EPs’ work. Fathers were less involved than mothers, and a number of factors affecting fathers’ involvement was identified. The discussion of findings is informed by Community Psychology, Ecosystemic Theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour, and strategies to promote paternal involvement are identified.     

Parental involvement in secondary education schools: the views of parents in Greece

The present study explores Greek parents’ views on parental educational involvement and its impact on adolescent scholastic and social development. Specifically, aspects of parental involvement such as the achieved objectives of current parent–school communication, the psychological climate dominating teacher–parent interactions and parents’ suggestions for improvement of current policies and practices are examined. Four hundred and seventy‐five parents participated in the study. Findings showed that family–school communication is believed to be insufficient in Greece, despite the fact that parents tend to: (1) regard their cooperation with teachers as determinative of adolescent academic and psychosocial development; (2) consider teachers to be friendly and caring; and (3) believe that secondary school provides some opportunities for constructive parental involvement. These paradoxes are discussed and explained as a result of radical changes in current social and educational values, principles and objectives.

家庭作业是学校教师布置给学生,让他们在课外时间完成的任务。家庭作业作为学生学习的重要任务,其完成的质与量是检验学习效果、衡量教学质量的重要指标。家长参与学生的家庭作业具有不同的类型及表现形式,对学生的学习会产生不同的影响。通过探讨家长参与学生家庭作业的类型,以期为学校教育和家庭教育提供借鉴。     

反省和探索：孙中山民主理念中的政党观

纵观孙中山一生政党思想的流变轨迹,与其五权宪法思想的发展相适应,在议会政党政治问题上,其立场经历了从初期的模糊暧昧到因应形势下两度认同最后又偏离排斥的“扬弃”过程。从批判的武器到武器的批判,孙中山在民初维护临时约法、并以代议民主的政党政治作为反对专制统治的武器的同时,也对这个武器进行了批判。这凸显了孙中山矢志共和、“与时俱进”地探索和建立合乎中国国情的政党政治体制的可贵精神。     

Demand articulation in emerging technologies: Intermediary user organisations as co-producers?

User involvement is assumed to be beneficial to innovation processes. Intermediary user organisations contribute to articulating societal demands for innovations. However, the learning processes inside these organisations are still not understood well. Therefore, this paper empirically investigates intermediaries using an event history approach. It yields characteristic learning mechanisms, e.g. concerning the management of expectations or actively building a case. If intermediaries overcome challenges regarding positioning, representation and the level of proactivity, they can play a precarious role in demand articulation in the context of new technologies.
