School counsellor training,attitudes, and perceptions of preparedness to provide services to students with disabilities in inclusive schools in Turkey

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of school counsellors’ attitudes and training on their perceptions of preparedness to provide services to students with disabilities (SWD). Participants were 105 practicing school counsellors who completed the Attitudes toward Disabled Persons Scale Form-O (ATDP-O) as well as the School Counsellor Preparedness Survey-Revised (SCPS-R) in a web-based format. A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted with three types of counsellor training (courses, experiences and conferences/workshops) and counsellor attitudes towards SWD. The results revealed that school counsellors’ attitudes and training significantly predicted preparedness with an approximately 10% of variance explained. Out of all four variables, attitudes appeared to be the only significant predictor of preparedness scores. Results also indicated that school counsellors did not feel completely prepared to work with SWD.     

Jordanian parents’ beliefs about the causes of disability and the progress of their children with disabilities: insights on mainstream schools and segregated centres

This study aims to identify the beliefs of Jordanian parents of children with disabilities (CWD), including intellectual disabilities, specific learning disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder: both in terms of the causes of these disabilities, and the ability of their children to make progress. A qualitative interpretive methodology was employed. Interviews were used to collect data from 63 parents of CWD. Two major themes emerged concerning beliefs about the causes of disability and children’s progress. Results showed generally that disabilities were attributed to supernatural and biomedical causes; also, most parents had positive expectations about their children’s progress, especially in education skills, and had hopes for their children’s futures. Conclusions and implications are presented in the light of the study findings.

NCLB法案颁布之后,美国各州相继推出了针对障碍学生的选择性评价。其中,加利福尼亚州发展较为完善,走在各州前列。美国加州选择性表现评价的基本内容(以英语评价标准为例)、评价标准的构成及特点,对我国特殊教育学校课程评价改革具有借鉴意义。

我国普通高校民族传统体育教学现状分析及对策研究

为了在我国普通高等院校更好地开展民族传统体育,传承中华民族传统文化,弘扬民族体育精神,根据区域分布,以全国教育部直属高校及部分省市直属高校为范围,选取38所高校作为研究对象。运用文献资料、问卷调查、专家访谈等方法,对高校民族传统体育教学现状进行调研分析,并针对调研结果提出相应发展对策,以便更好的把握未来,有针对性的进行高校民族传统体育发展规划。
