Teaching and learning cycles in a constructivist approach to instruction

This study attempts to analyze and synthesize the knowledge collected in the area of conceptual models used in teaching and learning during inquiry-based projects, and to propose a new frame for organizing the classroom interactions within a constructivist approach. The IMSTRA model consists in three general phases: Immersion, Structuring, Applying, each with two sub-phases that highlight specific roles for the teacher and the students. Two case studies, one for mathematics in grade 9 and another for science in grade 3, show how the model can be implemented in school, making inquiry realistic in regular classes. Beyond its initial purpose, the IMSTRA model proved to be a powerful tool in curriculum development, being used in producing mathematics textbooks, as well as in developing teaching courses for a long-distance teacher-training program.

在自由与常规之间——由幼儿园教育活动中的两种典型现象引发的思考

在幼儿园教育活动中,自由与常规是辩证统一的。幼儿的自由不是一种无限扩张的绝对自由,而是在一定纪律、常规之内的自由,良好的常规会给幼儿带来更多的自由,有利于幼儿自由地、富有个性地成长。幼儿园教育应该是自由教育,它具备自主选择性和心灵自由性与平等合作性,注重培养幼儿的责任感。     

近代中国国民外交运动兴起的原因探析

近代中国国民外交运动的兴起,缘于深刻的社会历史背景:帝国主义侵华策略的改变和日本国民外交运动的影响成为该运动兴起的客观原因;伴随着民族主义浪潮的高涨,民权思想和国家主权意识的传播,又为国民外交运动的兴起在主观上奠定了心理基础和思想基础;义和团运动的教训则成为近代中国国民外交运动兴起的现实基础。     

Exploring marine ecosystems with elementary school Portuguese children: inquiry-based project activities focused on ‘real-life’ contexts

The purpose of the study was to investigate how young students engage in an inquiry-based project driven by real-life contexts. Elementary school children were engaged in a small inquiry project centred on marine biodiversity and species adaptations. All activities included the exploration of an out-of-school setting as a learning context. A total of 49 students and 2 teachers were involved in the activities. The research methods included observation, document analysis and content analysis of the answers to a questionnaire and an interview. The results revealed that most of the students acquired scientific knowledge related to biological diversity and adaptations to habitat. Moreover, students progressively demonstrate greater autonomy, argumentative ability and decision-making. One implication of the present study is that elementary science curriculum could be better managed with inquiry project-based activities that explore different types of resources and out-of-school settings.     

将STEM教育理念引入展品教育活动的思考与实践——以“铁路背后的科学”展品教育活动为例

某些科技博物馆的展品教育活动存在说教灌输多、体验探究少和缺乏深层次科学内涵的普遍问题。美国《新一代科学教育标准》提出的三个维度“科学与工程实践”“跨学科概念”“学科核心概念”恰恰针对上述问题,而STEM教育则是承载当代科学教育理念与三个维度的重要载体,笔者认为将其引入科技博物馆展品教育活动十分必要,并以中国铁道博物馆开展的“铁路背后的科学”展教活动为例,研究STEM理念对于科技博物馆展品教育活动设计与实践的积极意义。
