Changing thoughts,changing practice: examining the delivery of a group CBT-based intervention in a school setting

Promoting mental health and well-being for children and young people in the UK has attracted increasing prominence in recent years and has been a focus for government strategy within health and education. Training and practice in educational psychology has increasingly focused on developing skills and expertise to provide therapeutic support within school contexts, at an early stage of need. One approach, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), has been heralded as an effective, evidence-based intervention for anxiety. This research examines the factors influencing the outcomes of a group CBT-based intervention, run by an Educational Psychologist (EP), in a school setting. The findings suggest that influential variables included pupil identification, measures of change applied and the role of school staff. It is concluded that EPs can play a key role in increasing access to psychological therapies, alongside considering due caution in relation to the application of traditional clinical approaches in school contexts.     

Experiences of Counselors‐as‐Clients in Counselor Education

Eight professional counselors who routinely role‐play as clients in 1 counselor education program participated in a focus group investigating their portrayal experiences. Data were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis, which resulted in 3 superordinate themes: missions, influential factors, and repercussions. Findings reinforce instruction of idiographic and person‐centered care in counselor education.     

An Analysis of Peer Feedback Exchanged in Group Supervision

The authors examined the peer feedback exchanged in 2 supervision groups of counselors‐in‐training (CITs). CITs generated 169 statements grouped into 10 clusters representing 5 regions of peer feedback: counselor focus and engagement, insight‐oriented skills, exploratory skills, therapeutic alliance, and intervention activities. Both positive and corrective peer feedback was exchanged on topics ranging from counselor performance skills to case conceptualization.     

Understanding students’ experiences of professionalism learning: a ‘threshold’ approach

Professionalism is a core element of curricula in many disciplines but can be difficult to teach and learn. This study used audio-diary methodology to identify professionalism threshold concepts in a small group learning setting in undergraduate medicine and to understand factors that might facilitate students to ‘get’ such concepts. Fifteen students and seven tutors kept audio-diaries over two terms. Data were analysed qualitatively for content. The key themes were then cross referenced to threshold concept criteria (e.g. where language indicated that learning was troublesome, integrative or transformative). Seven potential threshold concepts were identified which centred on students’ developing professional identities including working with uncertainty, considering the bigger picture, not needing to know everything and professional culture. Reflection on workplace experiences within a small group helped students ‘get’ these concepts. The study concludes that threshold concepts and audio-diaries are useful tools for understanding lived experiences of professionalism learning.

沙尘暴造成的环境危害是一个典型的国际问题。沙尘暴的国际影响表现为：相邻国的尘暴源对我国沙尘暴的发生有着重要的影响：源发于中亚等地区的沙尘暴对日、韩、北美洲地区等各国的影响。治理沙尘暴需要国家之间的合作。沙尘暴合作治理已经取得成效,同时存在明显的不足,应该积极地探索更为有效的途径与措施,促使国际间沙尘暴的合作治理能够更有效地展开。     

从写作教材看句群写作的操练形式

文章通过10篇具有代表性的对外汉语写作教材分析,既肯定了部分教材逐渐用句群写作练习代替命题写作的练习、将句群写作训练与阅读和口语技能培养相结合的可喜进步,也客观地指出了一些教材对某些句群衔接手段还没有予以重视,并对句群写作的教学原则和具体操练形式进行了进一步的探索,认为在写作课中应该使句群写作的形式更加丰富。     

高校毕业生择业焦虑成因及其团体辅导的心理教育机制

笔者分析了造成当前高校毕业生择业焦虑的心理和社会因素,包括就业竞争压力、缺乏就业支持、自信心不足、对就业前景担忧等,探讨了帮助毕业生克服择业焦虑的教育对策,并对团体心理辅导帮助毕业生克服择业焦虑的心理教育机制进行了分析。     

开放教育导学环节的探讨与实践

导学的质量和水平,决定着学生自主学习的效果。从导学群的角度入手,结合具体的教学实践,探讨如何在现代远程教育环境下开展导学的方式方法,力求为开放教育导学模式的建立提供一些借鉴和启示。
