Sustaining Information Delivery: The Experience of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Library,Kumasi, Ghana

The paper reviews the history of information delivery at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology from 1993 to the present. Information delivery (which includes document and electronic resource delivery) from CD-ROM and online databases has given Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology's users access to about 15,000 online journals. Sponsorship of information delivery has largely come from donors such as the Danish International Development Agency, the Norwegian Ministry of Aid to Developing Countries, and the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publication. The bane of information delivery over the years has been the financial implications of sustainability, especially after the pullout of sponsors. This paper analyses the situation and proposes a solution in open access journals, cost-sharing by beneficiaries, ingenuity on the part of librarians, and eventual support by university administrators.     

我国体育信息网络化发展现状分析

运用献资料、归纳法，依据现阶段信息网络化在我国体育领域开展的实际情况，从体育信息网络化所涵盖的主要应用领域体育电子政务、体育远程教育、体育电子商务及体育信息传播几个方面较为系统地分析了我国体育信息网络化发展的现状，即：体育信息资源开发利用滞后，信息获取不平衡；体育电子政务建设水平低；体育远程教育发展所必需的硬、软件缺乏；体育电子商务较落后，普及程度低。

学生核心素养之一的"关键能力"培养,从不同视角,有不同的认识、理解与解释。站在人发展的角度看,不同年龄和阶段,有不同的"关键能力";站在技术的角度分析,有多种的"关键能力"节点;站在运动与教学角度观察,"关键能力"是"共性"与"规律"。丰富多样的教学内容、形式,只是"工具箱"。"伴生型"则是精心设计、制作的关键能力培养的特制工具。技术、技能、技巧、方法、器材、教师、学生等不同视角的"伴生型"教学组合单元,通过"点"梳理,获取"面"突破。通过"规律""共性"等"线"的掌握,获得"体"构建。伴生单元是"关键能力"达成的优选路径。     

我国中小学教学改革30余年历时性特征分析

改革开放30余年来,教学改革的推进模式、实施主体、价值目标、理论基础以及教学改革的研究视角和研究主题等都发生了转折性的变化,对30年来我国教学改革脉络进行回顾、梳理、反思,寻求教学改革研究思路和方法论上的更新、突破,以适应未来教学实践的新要求,无疑具有重要意义.     

基于工作过程的高频电子电路课程改革

提出基于工作过程的《高频电子电路》课程的情境教学模式改革,对优化后的情境教学模式进行了详细说明,在此基础上提出"情境→目标→任务"的教学链条,并以实际例子从理论教学和实践教学两方面谈了具体实施方法,对项目课程实施的条件进行了分析。

The National Library of Canada's Electronic Publications Pilot Project:

From June 1994 to the summer of 1995 the National Library of Canada carried out the Electronic Publications Pilot Project. The objective of this Project was to identify and understand issues that the National Library of Canada and other Canadian libraries would encounter in handling electronic publications and online collections. A small number of formally published Canadian on-line journals were acquired, controlled, catalogued and stored permanently at the Library. Public access was provided on the Internet through Gopher and the World Wide Web. Several areas of the Library were involved in the three teams which were set up to pursue the Project's goals. The members of the Technical Services team received equipment upgrades and underwent a considerable amount of training in order to accomplish assigned tasks. Identifying appropriate titles and obtaining copyright clearance for those selected proved to be a very time-consuming exercise. The problems and issues encountered during the acquisitions, serials check-in and cataloguing activities confirmed that dealing efficiently with electronic publications was indeed a new challenge for the staff of the National Library. At the end of the project, recommendations from the Technical Services team were submitted and they will be incorporated into the Final Report of the Project which is expected to be available to the public in the fall of 1995.     

Electronic Reserve and the Integrated Library System: From Installation to the Future

The libraries at the University of Toledo manage electronic reserve via Innovative Interfaces product Media Management. This article explores the reasoning behind selecting this software and examines the challenges of installation, maintenance, responding to patron access problems, and providing faculty support. Providing quality service with a small staff is also addressed.

Emerging electronic markets at e‐Business crossroads: competitive and regulatory issues in the electricity industry

Natural history depicts evidence of the dynamics of evolution, while fossil records permit the examination of change over time. Such records inform us also that change is never easy and does not occur without casualties. It seems that parallel observations may be advanced as the Internet and widespread use of information and communication technologies (ICT) have brought about new organizational forms, entirely new ways of organizing, as well as enabling novel processes. One casualty reflective of an evolutionary era is the dot‐com firms that have gone bust. As firms are moving along the evolutionary path of understanding and implementing these developments we need to come to grips with their design, management and impact. This contribution examines electronic markets and related off‐shoots as a coordination form and macro‐structure of information and communication systems within the electric power market. The basic notion of ‘electronic market’ is explored briefly. We recognize several forms in which such markets manifest themselves. The author emphasizes the role of competition in electronic markets, as well as the newly found role of intermediaries. Electronic markets in the electricity industry are examined in some detail, i.e. the electronic trading of electricity. This market demonstrates nicely the opportunities, but also potential pitfalls of electronic trading of this commodity, especially given relatively recent experiences with the electricity supply situation in the State of California, as well as the demise of Enron. A number of patterns, trading practices and regulatory concerns are highlighted. At the same time though similar underlying problems are applicable in all industrialized nations and selected examples are provided.
