Disabling discourses and some implications for parent leadership in special education policy and practice

The paper aims to explore ways in which mothers of children with cerebral palsy (CP) attempt to voice their concerns about current discourses and power imbalances enshrined in special education policy and provision. Mothers’ narratives are important in making transparent the multiple forms of ‘disablism’ experienced by them in their attempts to negotiate and counteract on behalf of their children deficit-based and discriminatory discourses and professional practices that violate their children’s rights, notwithstanding international and national legal mandates promoting a rights-based approach to disability. Their narrated subjugated agency in disability politics highlights the imperative to introduce new forms of advocacy through parent leadership in order to enable parents to have a more active and strategic role in challenging disabling discourses and practices that undermine their children’s rights and entitlements.     

论林则徐的塞防思想

在近代中国,随着西方殖民侵略的逐步加深,"海防"、"塞防"问题成为清政府关注和争论的焦点。林则徐作为清政府的一名封疆大吏,在谪戌新疆的过程中,他以"谪宦"之名,逐一实现他的"塞防"目标,通过开垦荒地、勘查土地、兴修水利、移民实边、调解民族关系等一系列具体措施,形成具有前瞻性的塞防思想:移民实边,发展经济,调和民族关系,未雨绸缪,巩固边防。     

试析黑格尔从自我意识的起源论个体性存在的思想

在《精神现象学》等著作中,黑格尔从主奴关系———人类最早的人际关系入手,揭示了人类自我意识发展的特定历史形态。他指出,自我意识诸形态存在的前提是由于生命和欲望;个体性自我意识在主奴的生死斗争中产生,其前提是相互承认;通过劳动,奴隶个体的自我意识回到自身。黑格尔进一步认为,整体是民族,是国家,其本身是一个个体,个体性的存在与统一的整体在现实的辩证运动中达到统一。

Is saying ‘sorry’ enough? examining the effects of apology typologies by organizations on consumer responses

Apology has been found to be the most effective strategy in times of crises. However, there is a dearth of research on the kinds of apology used and how primary stakeholders, in particular consumers, received them. This study aims to examine consumer responses to the types of apologies offered post crises against the levels of attribution of responsibility. We also assess the potential mediating role of ethical concerns by developing the Perception-Behavioral Model of Crisis Response. An experiment was conducted to ascertain consumers’ impression of the organization post-apology. The results showed that the attribution of crisis responsibility significantly influences complaining, withholding and negative word-of-mouth behaviors. However, a very high degree of apology issued by the organization does not necessarily translate to reduced negative responses from consumers in light of the large attribution of responsibility. Finally, the Perception-Behavioral Model of Crisis Response suggests that ethical concerns can mediate negative behavioral intentions from consumers.     

The effects of prior reputation and type and duration of charitable donation on celebrities’ personal public relations: an investigation based on attribution theory

Charitable donations made by celebrities are being increasingly reported by news media in South Korea. This experimental study has examined the effects of celebrities’ prior reputations, and the duration and type of charitable donation they perform, on young participants’ evaluations of these celebrities (i.e. motive attribution, attitudes toward the celebrities, and related purchase intentions). The results ascertained the main effects of prior reputation and duration and type of donation on the dependent variables. Most notably, the results also found the interaction effect of duration and type of donation on the participants’ evaluation of motive attribution. That is, participants who were exposed to news stories concerning celebrities’ volunteer efforts, or monetary contributions that involve volunteer efforts, performed over long periods of time reported the highest level of motive attribution. Based on these results, this study discussed theoretical and practical implications.
