关于战士学员本科学历教育的几点思考

战士学员相比青年学员部队经验比较丰富、军事素质较好,但文化基础相对较差、自主学习能力较低、学习心态错综复杂,导致其教育引导任务加重、公共课程教学压力增大、专业课程教学要求更高。从招生源头上把好质量,优化课程体系结构,调整实践教学比重,强化奖惩激励机制,有利于进一步提高战士学员本科学习教育质量。

Mysteries in the Night: An Exploratory Study of Student Use and Perceptions of 24/5 Hours

The Oregon State University Valley Library has been open 24 hours per day, five days per week, during regular academic terms since 2010. The authors collected survey data during 2012 to explore how students used the hours and whether they perceived that the provision of 24/5 hours contributes to their academic success. Nearly 90% of the respondents believed that their use of the overnight hours made a difference in their performance. The demographic, usage, and perception of value data collected provide a useful snapshot of overnight usage in this exploratory study.

Evening staff members of the Research and Information Services Department (RISD) at the North Carolina State University (NCSU) Libraries have recently noticed an apparent increase in the use of the library by people perceived to be mentally ill. RISD staff members have found themselves in some ways unpreparedtorespond comfortably to this change. This paper, a case study, proposes reasons for this increased visibility of mentally ill people, and describes the challenges the staff members faced and how they overcame them. The RISD staff members acquired the knowledge and confidence they need to work with mentally ill people through communication among colleagues, review of the literature, and staff training.     

The International Baccalaureate in England and Wales: the alternative paths for the future

The year 2007 was a significant one for the International Baccalaureate (IB) in England and Wales. Several milestones were reached, and the number of schools offering the curriculum reached one hundred. This article charts the growth and development in England and Wales of this continuum of international education and shows how the Diploma Programme, in particular, has reached a fundamental crossroads. On the one hand, the IB looks set for further growth and has the ability to be an influential and respected catalyst for the movement towards international education in curriculum development. On the other hand, the IB is emerging as an elite programme of study alongside other ‘baccalaureate’ curricula and in competition to A level, and other ‘Diploma’ developments. The ability of the IB to be a divisive force is explored.
