论大学教师学术创新力的基础:学术综合交叉能力

学术综合交叉能力是大学教师创新力的重要心理基础。本文从大学教师学术综合交叉能力的必要性、大学教师学术综合交叉能力的内涵以及大学教师学术综合交叉能力提高的策略三方面论述了大学教师创新力的重要基础。大学教师学术综合交叉能力的研究应该引起大学教师学术创新力研究领域的关注。     

Philosophy of Mind： A Jain Perspective

Dualism is one of the views concerning the nature of mind. Arguments have been forwarded for and against dualism. Western philosophy lacks a clear distinction between soul and mind. Closely related to the concept of mind is the question of consciousness, a clear view of which has also eluded the westem thinkers. Jain philosophy describes ＂jiva＂ （soul） as the sentient substance, which is non-physical and not sense-perceptible; consciousness and ＂upayoga＂ （manifestation） are the differentia of ＂jiva＂. Consciousness manifests itself in many ways： intelligence, intuition, conation, bliss, perception （cognitive elements）, emotions, will, attitude and behavior, awareness of pleasure and pain. Jain distinguishes between soul and mind. The mind does not possess consciousness, which is the exclusive property of soul. Mind like soul is not permanent entity, and it exists only when consciousness manifests as thoughts, beliefs, desires, emotions and feelings. All these activities are influenced by karma, which is interface between soul and mind. Our existence is seen to be at three levels： soul, mind and body. Soul is the source of intelligence; mind （subtle body） is the executive and regulatory body and material body is the place of physical actions. A model of interactions between these three units is presented. The soul perceives and knows the external world through mind, so the perceptions made by soul are influenced by mind. The relationship between brain and mind is discussed. The brain is seen as the center for information storage and processing, its activity is regulated by mind, which in turn is conditioned by the soul. The conscious experience is made by the soul, not the mind. The Jain model of soul, mind and body avoids all objections raised against dualism, as interaction between soul and karma body （unconscious part of mind） is assumed to be based on parallelism, and that between mind and body is through radiations not violating the law of conservation of energy.     

地方综合性大学师资国际化的对策

在区域性经济发展、外向型经济的推动下,各地方综合性大学纷纷制定了国际化的发展战略。输送适应地方经济发展的创新型人才的目标对地方综合性大学的师资提出了更高的要求。为了达到这一目标,地方综合性大学的师资国际化发展变得刻不容缓。但地方综合性大学的师资国际化还存在诸多不足,需要地方政府、地方综合性大学以及教师齐心协力,共谋发展大计。     

歧视知觉比贫困更值得关注——从两者对贫困与非贫困儿童行为的影响来谈

为了考察贫困和歧视知觉对儿童亲社会行为和问题行为的影响,采用问卷调查方式,测查了北京、天津、洛阳和南阳四个城市20多所学校的2670名5-8年级儿童,考察其物质资源、所拥有的教育资源,歧视知觉及亲社会行为和问题行为.结果发现:(1)贫困家庭儿童的物质资源指数、教育资源指数显著低于非贫困组,歧视知觉显著高于非贫困组;(2)贫困组儿童的亲社会行为显著低于非贫困组,而问题行为显著高于非贫困组.(3)在贫困与非贫困家庭中,歧视知觉对儿童亲社会行为和问题行为均有显著的预测作用,随着经济状况的改善,歧视知觉对问题行为的预测更大.结果说明,歧视知觉比贫困更值得关注,可以为贫困生心理健康教育提供一定的参考.     

The case for democratic governance in Canada's community colleges

Although the tradition of bicameral governance is well established in Canada's universities, in no province do community colleges operate under a similar principle. In fact, there is no statutory role for college faculty in governance, either through a senate or a senate-like body. This article argues the case for greater democracy in the governance of colleges and, in doing so, analyzes the role of college governance. The conclusion reached is that, while more democratic and participatory governance may be argued on conceptual grounds, it would also improve morale, trust, and communication within the college sector.

在《初等数论》“剩余类及剩余系”教学中,通过分析“剩余类及剩余系”思想产生的原因、理论依据及其基本思想方法,从而认识规律安排教学内容为学生提供完整的知识系统,让学生从整体上把握教学内容,形成知识体系,从而优化和发展学生的认知结构。     

The income consequences of the all-doctorate marriage

Income levels and percentage change in 1971–1975 income were regressed on personal and institutional variables for husband and wife doctorates holding full-time academic positions. Results of the composite equation indicate a $1,254 premium associated with being male after controlling for the other variables. Composite results also indicate a negative relationship between income for one spouse and the perceived opportunities for employment of the other spouse. Separate equations for the spouses indicate that this result related only to the wives' perceived opportunities of their husbands' income. By eliminating individuals with education doctorates and substituting the husbands' weights for the wives', the $1,254 differential was partially eliminated. The remaining differential between husbands' and wives' income was due to the greater involvement of the males in consulting and administration, greater involvement of the women in education, and fewer number of years of full-time experience of the wives. Comparison of income changes in both the composite and separate equations indicate that the wives received an 8–9% greater income increase than their husbands.     

A Loyalty Tax? National Measures of Academic Salary Compression

This paper presents measures of faculty salary compression for 1993 and 1999 based on national, rather than institutional-level, data. Using a recently developed technique and two national faculty surveys, actual junior to senior salary ratios are derived as well as predicted salary ratios that represent what the salary ratios would be if junior and senior faculty were similarly compensated for their productive traits. The analysis, which considers three alternative definitions of junior faculty and stratifies results by institutional type, produces an overall finding of no salary compression. A limited number of disciplines, including business and economics, however, do exhibit signs of salary compression.
