随着大学功能的扩展,大学教师的责任出现多元化趋势。由于重科研、轻教学的制度与政策导向,大学教师作为研究者的责任不断强化的同时,教学失责问题也不断凸显。实践证明,通过扩展学术的内涵、推动教学学术运动是大学化解教学与科研冲突的有效途径。我国大学教师失责问题是多种因素影响的结果,当务之急是要通过改善大学发展环境、改革教师评价制度、建立有效的管理体制等方面的制度创新来提升大学教师的教学责任。 相似文献

This study applies Kalleberg’s framework to better understand the effects of diverse demographic faculty characteristics on
dimensions of job satisfaction. We also extend his work and the work of others to explore the contextual effects of academic
disciplines on faculty job satisfaction. We find that women are consistently less satisfied than their male colleagues and
that the effect of being female varies by discipline on levels of job satisfaction. We also find race/ethnicity has mixed
effects on dimensions of job satisfaction but the effects of race/ethnicity tend to be constant across discipline. Our findings
hold important implications for those seeking to understand the experiences of college faculty from diverse demographic backgrounds. 相似文献

Interdisciplinary work within higher education has increased significantly over past decades (Amey 2004; Creamer and Lattuca
2005). However, the professional implications of interdisciplinary research and instruction for the faculty members who engage
in such academic work remain unclear. This study of science educators who hold appointments in two academic departments begins
to address this empirical gap. The outcomes provide insight into the factors that influence the professional lives of these
faculty members. The knowledge gained from the study will provide mentors, colleagues, and administrators insight into the
challenges facing academics undertaking this work. Further, this research seeks to inform policy makers in regard to how tenure
and promotion is determined for jointly appointed faculty in science education and other interdisciplinary fields.

Abstract E-mail reference has been utilized as a reference tool in academic libraries since the early 1980s. Today it is one of the most common media for providing digital reference service. An important aspect of providing any service is evaluating users' satisfaction levels with that service. Users of the Ask-A-Librarian e-mail reference service at a large academic library over a ten-month period voluntarily completed a seven item web-based questionnaire. The results indicated that the majority of respondents were satisfied with Ask-A-Librarian overall. This paper discusses how the library used the survey results to improve the existing service, and to implement a new one-chat reference. Reference service providers should not only ask users for feedback on existing services, but also should include them in the planning and design phase of new services. In doing so, they demonstrate their commitment to providing adequate and appropriate services to their patron community, and ultimately can save their institutions time and expense. 相似文献

This study tested relationships among verbal output, behavioral receptivity, attraction, and communication satisfaction in a variety of longer and shorter term relationships of differing levels of liking. Two behaviorally referenced reports on others were developed to measure perceived behavioral output and perceived behavioral receptivity. The study tested hypotheses within the attraction paradigm. Results generally supported the notion of an important reinforcement value of high behavioral receptivity and moderate verbal output. Substantial proportions of highly verbal people appeared to be below average in receptivity. 相似文献
