清末民初的接受环境与小说“翻译变形”之分析

＂翻译变形＂为一种非正常翻译手段,它在历史上的不同时期都有不同的表现形式,而在晚清小说翻译中尤为突出。以往翻译研究大多从文本转换层面来对之做出界定,结果将之排除在翻译之外,而遭后世诟病。通过翻译研究＂文化转向＂的路径,探究晚清＂翻译变形＂背后的文化成因,认为,＂接受语境＂和＂诗学观念＂造成了＂变形＂的外部压力和内部诱因,致使与翻译之正法背道而驰,但在当时的背景下又是合理的、可取的,对中国文化和文学演进的作用仍然是巨大的。     

对志怪小说历史地位的再思考——两种不同小说观念的矛盾与六朝小说研究

志怪小说是六朝小说的代表作品,似乎已成定论。但这仅是现代小说观念指导下的选择,六朝人将志怪小说归入史部,其小说观念显然与之不同。志怪小说历史地位的变化凸现了两种不同小说观念的矛盾,面对如此现状,六朝小说研究应该摆脱现代小说观念的影响,尊重六朝人的小说观念,突出六朝小说研究的民族性特点。     

试论僧人传记的小说史价值及其对仙话小说的影响——以竹林寺传说为个案的文言小说研究

从六朝志怪的粗陈梗概发展到唐人小说的文辞华艳,不难找到竹林寺传说幻想奇特、情节优美的影响。另外,竹林寺传说对道教仙话小说影响颇深。这既有情节构件的置换：竹林圣僧演变成壁画圣僧,再进一步演变为壁画神仙;又有细节幻构的传承：竹林寺传说中飞龙行舟的细节．被仙话小说积极采用。     

死亡意识的另番叙述——鬼子小说论

鬼子的中短篇小说绝大多数很难逃逸出死亡的魔窟,作家鬼子以平民式的叙事态度对死亡进行淋漓尽致的叙述。这类死亡现象都是非常态的意外的死亡事件,然看似偶然的因素背后又清晰地显现着必然的脉络。鬼子小说中对死亡意识的叙述既是对传统死亡感阙如的补偿,又是作家个体生命主体意识觉醒的体现。     

The Survival of Engaged Reading in the Internet Age: New Media, Old Media, and the Book

This article explores questions of paratext and spin-off text through an investigation of websites and other forms of satellite texts relating to three series of novels for young people: the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, and the Discworld novels of Terry Pratchett. Much of this material, which is often perceived as competition to the book, actually trades on a powerful assumption that the reader has already read the books in question. Extended reading is supported rather than undermined by many of these associated texts.     

Good and Evil in Popular Children's Fantasy Fiction: How Archetypes Become Stereotypes that Cultivate the Next Generation of Sun Readers

This article considers how the depiction of good and evil as discernibly polarised opposites in the most popular of juvenile fantasy texts cultivates a perception in children that the real world is similarly organised. It questions whether the archetypes presented in such texts are in fact stereotypes that, far from enlarging children's constructions of individuals, groups and movements within broader human society, limit conceptual development. It proposes that the dichotomised view of good and evil that these texts promote, rather than cultivating a broad educated outlook, prepares readers more adequately for the simplistic polarities of the tabloid press.

Conflicts in A Streetcar Named Desire

A conflict is a disagreement, struggle, controversy or fight which usually provides the plot for a story. It is the prominent element of a work and the basis for everything else included in the work of literature. In the drama A Streetcar Named Desire of Tennessee Williams, several kinds of conflicts are proficiently and artistically revealed. This paper touches on different kinds of conflicts, including those between fantasy and reality, female and male, desire and death, the exterior and inner world, the south and the north. Conflicts are of great literary importance in this play. Firstly, they function to propel the plot and create an overarching tension. Secondly, they are used to represent themes which are applied to greater contexts. Thirdly, conflicts go through the whole play and make it a united whole.     

明清通俗文学中医者形象的文化阐释

明清医者形象及其涉医题材,具有通俗性。有病求医、行医救人是寻常百姓日常生活中最为关注的。明清小说医者形象与元杂剧医者形象比较,母题共通,叙事构成在母题史流程上前后互补。医者成为元杂剧到明清文言小说描写的共同人物,以模式化、类型化手法引起受众兴趣。比起杂剧,文言小说写医者形象,虽娱乐性程度、风格情调不同,但创作动机、采取叙事干预的意图颇为类似。通俗文学母题的模式化、复制重组性质在医者叙事中表现突出。明清小说总试图在旧有题材中引人入胜,描述更简洁,思想容量更大,叙事干预体现得较为隐蔽。
