Learning science through writing: associations with prior conceptions of writing and perceptions of a writing program

Students in a large undergraduate biology course were expected to write a scientific report as a key part of their course design. This study investigates the quality of learning arising from the writing experience and how it relates to the quality of students’ preconceptions of learning through writing and their perceptions of their writing program that led to their report. Closed‐ended questionnaires investigating student conceptions and perceptions of writing, and approaches to writing, were completed by 121 students. Significant associations were found amongst qualitatively different prior and post conceptions of writing, approaches to writing and achievement. The results of the analyses suggest that the effective support of student experiences of writing reports requires teachers to be aware of the type of conceptions that students bring to their course and the perceptions they hold about the purpose of the writing program in which they are engaged.     

基于AES的大学英语写作教学模式研究

英语写作能力培养一直是大学英语教学的重点和难点,目前自动作文评分AES（Automated Essay Scoring）技术已得到广泛应用,但如何将其与大学英语写作教学有效结合仍有待深入研究。鉴于此,根据我国大学英语写作教学现状,结合L2（Second Language）语言学习特点,在分析AES技术相关原理基础上,对大学英语写作教学模式进行分析研究。结果表明,当前中国大学英语写作教学需结合AES技术和L2语言学习特点,构建基于AES的大学英语教学模式,以激发学生学习兴趣,提升学生英语写作能力。

V.S. 奈保尔是当代后殖民文学的重要作家。在作品中,书写第三世界人民寻找文化归属和建设家园所面临苦难时,他采用孤独旁观者的视角。同时,奈保尔艺术化地运用象征写作手法,以加深、加强他的写作主题。

李佩甫是当代河南作家群中的代表人物之一。"植物书写"在《羊的门》《城的灯》《生命册》《平原客》等"平原系列"小说中都有鲜明呈现,它是李佩甫思考中原文化意蕴的重要切入点。在城乡二元对立的社会语境中,少数人历经磨难如愿逃离乡村,最后却沦为城市生存法则的奴隶。"平原叙事"构成了李佩甫小说的主要叙事方式。平原乡村的民间文化形态不仅具有自由自在性,而且还存在着藏污纳垢的典型特征,它们共同构成了中原文化传统的矛盾对立关系。     

提高写作能力是人类社会发展的需要

提高写作能力 ,掌握各种文体的写作 ,包括文学创作 ,是人类高素质的表现 ,是人类社会发展的需要。提高写作能力并非难事 ,重要的是要提高综合素质 ,而不是单纯地依靠写作技巧。再就是要善于营造一种“状态” ,并在这种状态下写作 ,就能达到预期效果     

批判现实的主题与浪漫主义表现手法──析《木摇马上的赢家》

《木摇马上的赢家》写于２０世纪２０年代工业文明高度发达时期,故文章所表现的主题正是人的善良与美好的本性在工业社会被扭曲的客观现实及其可怕后果．作者采用现实主义的创作手法,创造了典型环境下的典型性格,并佐以一定的浪漫主义表现手法和技巧,通过对悲剧产生的自然环境、木摇马的“信息”的描写以及标题中反语的运用,来完成对主题的体现．     

Writing for professional recognition in higher education: understanding genre and expertise

ABSTRACT

This study draws on the theoretical frameworks of genre theory and writing expertise to explore how educators manage and excel in writing for professional recognition. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four educators from different disciplines in which participants discussed their experiences of preparing and writing for Senior Fellow. Despite the fact that writing for professional recognition can be a contentious genre to manage with its reflective features favouring those from certain disciplinary backgrounds, the participants described positive and affirming experiences. The findings also suggest that educators are strategic in their approach, and that the writing process can have unexpected affordances including a developed knowledge of writing, professional confidence and a sense of empowerment. The findings have implications for developing systems and resources to support educators preparing for fellowship.
