对研究生课程管理的思考

本着重分析了加强研究生课程管理的主要意义及课程教学中存在的问题：思想上的不重视、认知上的偏差、管理上的疏漏。针对这些存在问题，阐述了解决问题的途径：正视课程管理中的问题；制订并完善教学管理件，建立健全教学规章制度；加强课程、师资及教材建设。并且介绍了加强课程管理的实践和体会。     

地矿人才就业状况分析

随着就业市场的开放程度越来越高,相当多的地矿类专业毕业生选择到效益相对好的石油行业或部门工作,进一步加大了地矿单位引进优秀毕业生的难度。本文通过对地矿行业存在的影响毕业生选择就业的因素以及毕业生存在的就业误区进行了分析,认为通过地矿行业转变人才观念、与学校进一步强化合作以及加强对学生就业指导会对地矿人才的就业流向趋于平衡起着重要作用。     

How Do We Train Our Future Faculty to Teach? A Multidisciplinary Comparison of Graduate-Level Pedagogy Courses Offered at a Large Midwestern University

This study examines and documents graduate pedagogy courses offered at a large Midwestern research university. Thirty-three graduate pedagogy course instructors from 32 departments (a majority of those offering courses) completed an online survey. We report on enrollment demographics, preparation of faculty to teach such a course, and how a statement of teaching philosophy is presented to the class. This research connects the analyses of individual pedagogy courses with the few national studies on teacher training, outlines assumptions about an emerging field, and lays groundwork for a comprehensive study of the landscape and outcomes of graduate pedagogy courses nationwide.     

Literature reviews,citations and intertextuality in graduate student writing

Literature reviews are a genre that many graduate students do not fully understand and find difficult to write. While the genre, language and rhetorical moves of literature reviews are widely researched, less research focuses on citation use in literature reviews. Teaching students ‘how-to’ write the literature review through explicit genre awareness is not enough. What is needed, is a focus on the discursive nature of citations since citations are a core ingredient in literature reviews. The complexity of citing, referencing and using sources is difficult to teach in university classrooms, especially in courses that focus on content knowledge. When it is taught, it is often imparted to students as conventions with particular organisational features around citation styles. Or it is taught within the discourse of morality and academic dishonesty that surrounds plagiarism. What is lacking is a pedagogy that relates citing to the more complex discursive practices that are implicit and deeply embedded in particular time-bound contexts. The purpose of this research was to explore citation patterns in 23 draft and final masters’ student literature review papers to better understand the ways in which students use sources in literature reviews with the aim of informing pedagogy. Findings indicate that the concept of intertextuality, specifically, transgressive intertextuality, intertextual engagement and discursive intertextuality can help with the teaching and learning of literature reviews and citation use.

The value of using a prenatal education planning model: application to an aboriginal community

A conceptual model for planning adolescent prenatal programs was developed that anticipated future trends, was easily modifiable, and fostered community self-direction (Loos & Morton, 1996). However, the model's reliability with diverse groups in atypical settings required testing. Validation of its reliability focused on adolescent Aboriginal women living in an isolated northern community. Use of the model helped identify modifications in program design, implementation, and evaluation to meet the ethno-cultural, socioeconomic, and age-related needs differences of this population, suggesting that this model is an effective tool for program development.
