Developing Your Own Simulation for Teaching Social Studies

Many students experience a personally significant loss of some nature during the school year. While some losses may appear trivial to adults, other losses are life-changing, such as the death of a loved one, and, compounded by normative developmental changes and transitions, may negatively impact students’ emotional well-being, behavior, and academic progress. In this article, the author discusses the issue of loss for children and adolescents and reviews possible approaches educators may use to provide support to loss-affected students.

Group Counseling with International Students: Practical,Ethical, and Cultural Considerations

International students in higher education represent a diverse population with unique mental health needs. Foreign students commonly experience a host of adjustment issues, including acculturative stress, language difficulties, cultural misunderstandings, racial discrimination, and loss of social support. Despite their challenges, few international students seek individual counseling. The purpose of this article is to present counseling groups as a treatment modality for addressing international students' adjustment concerns. Special attention is directed to the practical, ethical, and cultural challenges of conducting group counseling with this population, in addition to presenting recommendations for future practice and research.

Abstract

As Gerald Amada suggests there is a current and continuing need for guidelines that delineate the provision of psychological services on campuses. These guidelines represent the identity of the provider agency, in this case generally counseling centers, and tend to reflect standards of professional practice as well as ethical considerations. Although a prevalent topic for discussion in professional organizations, the task of developing guidelines remains complex and the actual composition of such varies from campus to campus.

高校心理咨询活动既要遵循心理咨询活动的一般原则,如真诚原则、尊重原则、理解原则、整体原则、自律原则、保密原则等,还要根据高校心理咨询活动的特点,遵循高校心理咨询活动的原则,包括指导性原则、协调性原则、主动性原则、自知性原则、自我成长原则等,文章探讨了这些原则及其在高校心理咨询中的运用。     

关于高等学校大学生深度辅导内涵与工作机制的研究

开展深度辅导是高校思想政治教育工作融入人文关怀的重要途径,对于推进辅导员工作精细化,提高思想政治教育工作水平具有重要意义。在实践中,要全面掌握学生状况,与学生深入融合,重点关注特殊群体学生,积极开展分级分类谈话制度,将深度辅导与解决实际问题相结合,使深度辅导工作起到润物无声的效果。     

论陈三立的忧国恤民诗

近代大诗人陈三立始终抱有忧国之心,从中法战争、甲午战争、八国联军攻陷北京、东三省日俄大战到清朝廷的腐败无能,思想界的混乱,所谓新政的弊端,无不写入其诗中。诗中盼望全民皆兵、全民教育。入民国,他对袁世凯政权予以无情讽刺,哀叹北洋时期的军阀争战。诗从不同方面反映了清末民初的沧桑世变,谓之诗史,当之无愧;陈三立有着改变国弱民贫境况的强烈意识,极为忧虑近代以来中华民族的深重危机,故其诗往往沉郁多讽,有着哀愤忧悲的浓重气氛。
