The “sacred” standing for the “fallen” spirits: Yasukuni Shrine and memory of war

This essay examines the rhetoric/politics of Yasukuni Shrine as an experiential memory-scape, a material and discursive ground to frame and enact banal patriotism and militant nationalism. As a powerful mnemonic and rhetorical institution, Yasukuni Shrine (re)produces a nationalistic narrative and identity by (con)fusing natural feelings of individual grief and cultural tradition of commemoration with national heritage of banal patriotism. By (con)fusing what is “particular” and “universal,” Yasukuni Shrine establishes its rhetorical ground to justify a “banal” sense of patriotism that slips into the “ordinary yet honorable” fervor of militant nationalism, while effectively evading its moral/ethical reflexivity.

This paper examines the context and impact of the industrial materials and processes of the mid-twentieth century on Donald Judd's works, focusing on galvanized steel, cellulose nitrate paints, anodizing, and the RAL color matching system. Exploration of the industrial materials and methods Judd utilized provides a greater understanding of his processes, choices, and ultimately his art, its care, and legacy.     

语义分类的学科主题演化分析方法研究——以我国图书情报领域大数据研究为例

[目的/意义] 学科主题演化研究有助于掌握学科发展现状、研究热点、研究前沿和发展趋势等情况,是进行科技创新的基础,是面向科技创新的重要研究方向。[方法/过程] 提出一种语义分类的学科主题演化分析方法：将关键词分为研究问题、研究方法和研究技术3类,构建不同语义分类的共词网络;然后基于Fast Unfolding社区发现算法识别具有语义特征的社区（主题）;利用相似度算法计算相邻子时期主题间的相似度,构建学科主题演化图谱,以分析某学科领域研究问题、研究方法和研究技术的变化,实现深度、细致的学科主题演化分析。[结果/结论] 通过对2012-2015年CNKI数据库收录的我国大数据研究领域相关论文数据的处理分析,证明该方法的准确性和有效性。     

Empire Redefined: Part 1

During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Dutch East India Company exerted monopolistic control over spices and coffee, with huge financial returns for those who invested in the company. Also during this time, a combination of business factors emerged to allow the early distribution of published works to gain hold and become a viable commercial enterprise. The early years of Dutch publishing are not well known but when examined they parallel the historical context in which geopolitical empires were the norm. The story of the start of a modern day publishing house is examined through the dual histories of two Dutch business ventures that thrived and failed during a turbulent time of colonial exploitation.     

论农民工教育服务的多边合作供给制——基于制度变迁理论的分析

对农民工教育服务的多机构合作供给实质上就是公共服务领域内的一场制度变迁,即在农民工的教育服务供给领域中引入市场机制,构建多个利益相关者互动的公共服务新秩序,以实现各机构之间功能的互补性贡献。制度需求与制度供给的不平衡是制度变迁的内在动力,本文运用制度变化的需求与供给分析框架,探究我国农民工教育服务实现多边合作供给过程中的各种要素,提出了相应的制度设计方案。     

陈垣对中国宗教史研究的贡献

宗教史研究是陈垣先生史学研究中用功最勤、成就最突出的范畴。他的贡献主要表现在以下几方面：用科学方法解决了中西回历相互对照；用文字勘同方法解决了伊斯兰教、景教、一赐乐业教、火袄教、摩尼教的古今异译，分清了各教之间的差别；用进步的史观阐明域外各国、各族人入华后的“华北”，为中华民族形成提供了历史依据；发掘了数以百计的重要史料。

唐传奇作者之"史才"不等同于历史学意义上的史学才能,却又与史学联系密切。从唐代史官制度与文学之关系的角度来考察,小说家"史才"当从"假小说以寄笔端"中求取,其实质包孕史学传承、历史意识生成、历史笔法借鉴等涵义。

通过勾稽史料,检阅多种总集、别集、选本、方志、馆藏目录及目录学著作,可以考得五代以迄民国时期广东词人至少三百八十四家。

在迟子建小说的想象艺术中，有关童年与历史记忆的书写是其中重要的组成。作家通过对视角择取、意象营造等记忆呈现方式的技术化处理，展现出的不仅是那个独特时代环境下带有鲜明地域和化印记的人类最为生动鲜活的生存场景，同时更多展露出的则是作家对于现实社会的凝重思索和对人性温情的热切渴望。     

The Structural Adjustment of Football in Zambia: Politics,Decline and Dispersal, 1991–1994

Abstract

This paper explores multiple and complex relationships between football (soccer), politics, and the economy in postcolonial Zambia. Based on archival and oral sources collected in Zambia, the paper argues that President Frederick Chiluba’s government failed to support football development when it came into power in 1991 because it was elected on a platform of liberalizing the collapsing national economy. Chiluba privatized state-owned companies that were sponsoring the game resulting in the plummeting of the local standards and migration of talented footballers abroad in search of better livelihoods. Furthermore, the paper argues that while the exodus of talented footballers led to the deterioration of the standards of the local league, their transnational experience boosted the performance of the Zambia national football team. This led to the emergence of one of the best national teams the country has ever had. Unfortunately, this particular team perished in the Gabon air disaster in 1993 following the government’s disinvestment in the game. However, a few months after the disaster, the country managed to rebuild a national football team, which emerged as runners up to Nigeria in the 1994 African Cup of Nations final as a result of a large pool of local and foreign-based football players.
