城乡交流背景下的校长工作压力状况调查--以辽宁省为例

对辽宁省参与城乡交流的中小学校长进行调查,并与未参加交流的校长作对比,可以发现参与交流的校长工作压力显著高于未参加交流的校长;参与交流的校长具有强烈的压力感。进一步统计分析发现：不同压力源在年龄、学校类别和学校层面上表现出显著差异。

地方新办高校行政岗位上的青年教师在工作岗位上默默奉献,任劳任怨,又在教学岗位上兢兢业业,有所付出。由于行政工作繁重、工作压力较大,行政岗位上的青年教师身心疲惫、职业倦怠,现状令人堪忧。关心、爱护青年教师应该引起上级各有关部门的高度重视。

Free to Learn: Helping Ex-Offenders with Reentry

Denver Public Library has taken an active role in providing services for people who have served time in prison or jail. The program Free to Learn focuses on providing resources and training to help ex-offenders with entering or reentering the workforce. Educating library staff on how to help felons also plays a critical role in the success of the program. This article provides information on how Denver Public Library helps ex-offenders apply for a job and respond to “the felony question.”     

Reflections on a Job-Shadowing Experience

Various studies from the past 30 years indicate that the number of new, qualified catalogers is dwindling. This article explores the reasons why library students are being deterred from specializing in cataloging and suggests methods to improve the situation. One highly recommended solution is for library schools to promote job shadowing. Shadowing is a career exploration tool that can be beneficial for both students and practitioners. Both authors have experienced the benefits of shadowing and offer their perspectives on being a shadow and a host.     

Qualifications for Serials Catalogers in the 21st Century: A Content Analysis of Job Advertisements

Abstract

Recent developments have altered the work performed in library technical services. As with similar positions, responsibilities for serials/continuing resources catalogers have experienced changes. This study examined qualifications sought by employers between the period from January 1, 2002 to May 21, 2017. Through content analysis of job advertisements, with emphasis on professional-level cataloging of serials/continuing resources, this study found a demand for a diverse mix of both traditional and emerging skills. The results were analyzed for insights into the field of serials/continuing resources cataloging     

Desired Characteristics of Management and Leadership for Public Library Directors as Expressed in Job Advertisements

ABSTRACT

Advertisements for public library directors can reflect the evolution of the public library environment as libraries adapt to changes related to funding and technology. No study has examined whether the skills and attributes desired of public library directors have changed over time and whether they are associated with the characteristics of management or leadership. Content analysis of public library director job advertisements from 2000–2011 revealed a closer association with management than leadership traits and an omission of characteristics like advocating, fundraising, being politically savvy, and having a vision needed to position the public library as an essential resource to stakeholders.     

Jury Instructions: A Bibliography Part I:

Pattern jury instructions are used by trial judges to explain the law to jurors in language that they can understand and that can provide consistency from one trial to another. This bibliography contains references to 156 recent and dated compilations of civil jury instructions. An index to acronyms for civil jury instructions is included.     

A New Look at the Background and Work Experience of Business Librarians

This study examines the current state of business librarianship. What are the educational backgrounds of business library and information practitioners? Where and in what manner are they providing business librarianship? How do they interact with their peers? Is business librarianship a field which is attracting new librarians? Perhaps most importantly, are business librarians happy in their profession? Past articles have focused specifically on academic business librarians. However, a significant amount of business librarianship occurs outside of academia. This survey benefited from data gathered from librarians from all types of libraries.
