Towards a Model of Intercultural Communicative Competence in Iranian EFL Context: Testing the Role of International Posture,Ideal L2 Self,L2 Self-Confidence,and Metacognitive Strategies

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to present a model of intercultural communicative competence (ICC) by incorporating international posture, motivational disposition (ideal L2 self), second language (L2) self-confidence, and metacognitive learning strategies. To this end, 150 Iranian L2 learners, selected through convenience sampling procedure, took part in the research. The findings of structural equation modelling revealed that the proposed model showed adequate fit to the data, implying that the model is appropriate in Iranian English as a foreign language (EFL) context. Also, the results indicated that learners with a high level of international posture are more likely to bridge the gap between their present and ideal selves. This was, additionally, argued that internationally oriented and ideally motivated learners become confident of their abilities to get engaged in interaction with L2 target communities. Furthermore, metacognitive learning strategies were found to be directly associated with ICC, implicating that the learners who continuously reflect on their learning and evaluate their performances are more prone to have a higher level of ICC. Finally, suggestions were offered for language teachers and policy-makers to inspire their learners to be more competent in communication with people of other cultures and languages.

纳粹统治时期种族主义盛行,体育运动也未能自外其中,沦为国家政治的工具。而体育术语本土化的规范,似是黑暗政治中的一道学术微光。本文采用文献分析法,以1936年柏林奥运会及《奥林匹克手册》为例,对该时期的德国体育战略及体育语言工作进行分析。     

浅析郑州市部分高校拉丁舞专业拉丁舞课程考核方式的现状

近年来,拉丁舞运动愈发活跃,不仅成为各大高校开设课程的热门专业,还是课后深受大学生们欢迎的健身项目。随着高校拉丁舞课程的开设,系统的教学与训练是实现拉丁舞人才培养的重要环节。考核办法是构成教学体系的重要组成部分,教学的进步离不开对于课程内容考核方法的优化和更新,才能使得拉丁舞专业得到更好的发展。本文通过文献资料法、问卷调查法、访谈法以及数理分析法,以郑州市部分高校拉丁舞专业拉丁舞课程考核方式的现状为研究方向,结合郑州市部分高校拉丁舞课程考核方式,分析出目前郑州市部分高校的拉丁舞考核方式现状,通过以学生为主体的考核角度出发,以构建出合适现代化发展需求的拉丁舞考核方式为目的,针对各大高校拉丁舞课程的期末考核方式进行可行性的分析。     

创新生态系统价值共创行为协调机制研究

对于创新生态系统来说，价值共创行为协调机制是保障其稳定运行关键所在。本文基于演化博弈的视角构建了创新生态系统价值共创行为协调机制演化模型，并分析了其演化过程。研究结果表明：创新生态系统价值共创行为演化结果能否向全面协调方向发展，主要受到价值共创超额收益分配比例、协调合作的成本、选择欺骗策略收益以及单独采取合作策略收益及奖惩力度等一系列因素的影响。将超额收益分配与合作成本分摊比例控制在合理范围内，进一步减少合作成本，增加单独合作收益与合作超额收益，降低欺骗策略收益，加强惩罚力度，这都能够促进创新生态系统稳定持续发展。     

Multimedia search capabilities of Chinese language search engines

This paper reports results from a study exploring the multimedia search functionality of Chinese language search engines. Web searching in Chinese (Mandarin) is a growing research area and a technical challenge for popular commercial Web search engines. Few studies have been conducted on Chinese language search engines. We investigate two research questions: which Chinese language search engines provide multimedia searching, and what multimedia search functionalities are available in Chinese language Web search engines. Specifically, we examine each Web search engine’s (1) features permitting Chinese language multimedia searches, (2) extent of search personalization and user control of multimedia search variables, and (3) the relationships between Web search engines and their features in the Chinese context. Key findings show that Chinese language Web search engines offer limited multimedia search functionality, and general search engines provide a wider range of features than specialized multimedia search engines. Study results have implications for Chinese Web users, Website designers and Web search engine developers.

Searching strategies for the Hungarian language

This paper reports on the underlying IR problems encountered when dealing with the complex morphology and compound constructions found in the Hungarian language. It describes evaluations carried out on two general stemming strategies for this language, and also demonstrates that a light stemming approach could be quite effective. Based on searches done on the CLEF test collection, we find that a more aggressive suffix-stripping approach may produce better MAP. When compared to an IR scheme without stemming or one based on only a light stemmer, we find the differences to be statistically significant. When compared with probabilistic, vector-space and language models, we find that the Okapi model results in the best retrieval effectiveness. The resulting MAP is found to be about 35% better than the classical tf idf approach, particularly for very short requests. Finally, we demonstrate that applying an automatic decompounding procedure for both queries and documents significantly improves IR performance (+10%), compared to word-based indexing strategies.
