Automatic Alphabet Recognition

The last step of the Information Retrieval process is to display the found documents to the user. However, some difficulties might occur at that point. English texts are usually written in the ASCII standard. Unlike the English language, many languages have different character sets, and do not have one standard. This plurality of standards causes problems, especially in a web environment, where one may download a document with an unknown standard. This paper suggests a purely automatic way of finding the standard which was used by the document writer based on the statistical letters distribution in the language. We developed a vector-space-based method that creates frequencies vectors for each letter of the language and then matches a new document's vectors to the pre-computed templates. The algorithm was applied on various types of corpora in Hebrew, Russian and English, and provides an efficient solution to the stated problem in most cases.     

改革开放40年我国中小学教材建设的成就、问题与应对

改革开放40年来,中小学教材建设取得了突出的成就。中国特色的教材管理体制基本形成,教材多样化的格局初见成效,教材立体化的体系初步构建,教材质量逐步提高,社会资源广泛参与教材建设,教材研究日益被重视。但需要高度关注的问题有:数字教材的管理与研究,国际学校教材的监管,对港澳台地区教材的关注,少数民族教材建设等。笔者认为,应该成立教材第三方评价机构,加强少数民族教材的开发与研究,建立和完善数字教材的管理规范,完善和落实对国际学校的课程与教材的监管制度,筹建教材资源中心和研究基地。     

改革开放40年中国基础英语教育发展报告

改革开放40年来,中国基础英语教育经历了辉煌的发展阶段,明确了其工具性与人文性的双重作用,在改革开放的形势下,确立了其在基础教育中的地位,并在课程、教材、教法、教师教育、测评、教学技术等方面取得了举世瞩目的成就。展望未来,尚需深化改革,加强研究,创造更多经验以奉献世界。     

语文教学目标陈述的学理与策略

在实际语文教学中,教学目标的陈述普遍存在一定程度的含糊性和随意性。导致这一问题的原因较为复杂,语文教师陈述教学目标缺乏科学理论的指导无疑是其中一个重要原因,因此,从理论上探讨语文教学目标陈述问题十分必要。现代科学心理学有关教学目标陈述的理论主要包括分类分层陈述理论、行为目标理论和行为样品理论。依据这些理论,语文教师在设计教学目标时应该针对学生的语文学习结果分类陈述,针对学生的语文学习过程分层陈述,针对学生的言语行为规范陈述。     

我的小学语文教育研究历程

历经多年的小学语文教改实验研究,在理论与实际相结合的基础上构建了"小学语文教学理论体系",形成了语文教育的基本观点:确定母语教育价值与定位;从语言学,解析"小学语文课程的性质、功能";从语文学科的性质,确定"语文教学发展语言能力、思维能力、思想、情感的发展目标";从汉字、汉语特点,"提升汉字教学的基本理论和方法";从语言学、文学及教学论,提出"读写教学的本真"以及"读写教学的基本原理和方法";从历史经验中,明确"我国的语文教育必须走中国的道路",要在继承传统语文教育基础上,吸取世界先进教学理论,发展我国的语文教育。     

共词分析聚合研究领域的表面效度研究:基于自然语言处理

为考察共词分析在研究领域聚合中的有效性,本研究以1988年～2017年三十年间发表且收录于WoS(Web of Science)数据库的计算机科学、地理学、数学、应用化学和应用物理学等五个学科的标题、摘要和关键词为分析对象,对不同分析单元下所聚合的研究领域的表面效度进行了检验。研究发现,关键词在研究领域聚合中具有相对最高的表面效度,摘要和题名的效度则相对较低。然而,本研究也发现,科学计量领域现有聚类指标和工具所聚合的研究领域缺乏区分能力且各种指标均存在着一定的效度风险。本研究的发现对于丰富科学计量领域关于研究领域聚合有效性的认识具有重要理论意义。     

高校图书馆利用第二语言开展阅读推广的研究——以华东理工大学图书馆为例

近年来,随着第二语言学习热情高涨,多语言阅读日益普遍。高校图书馆进行第二语言阅读推广是大势所趋。根据本人多年从事阅读推广的经验,本文从以下三个方面分析了第二语言阅读推广的策略:结合时代热点、将需求驱动与价值植入相结合、积极调动本校外语资源,并且提出了开展相关推广中存在的问题,最后展望了利用第二语言进行阅读推广的广阔前景。

“政治上正确的”由一政治术语演变为语言文化语汇,有其积极的意义,它是民权运动和多元文化的产物。政治上正确的语言也是复杂的,其使用受到言论自由和时代的影响,滥用之也会造成很多问题。     

From Inarticulacy to Care

This article seeks to critically re-open the closed structure of news coverage of ethnic minorities by proposing a dialogical model of representation, which evokes mutual understanding across differences through well-crafted narratives of minority experiences. Informed by Mikhail Bakhtin and Charles Taylor, it explores the notion of “dialogue” within journalistic narratives and delineates two dialogical approaches, namely the evaluative articulation of moral values and the polyphonic incorporation of different voices. The former suggests that journalists should employ nuanced languages to situate ethnic minorities’ aspirations and experiences in a common “horizon of significance”. The latter challenges the hegemonic monologue of an ostensibly objective narration and accentuates the manifold voices from ordinary people, urging the journalists to rethink their positionality as narrators. Two cases are analyzed to reveal how the dialogic representation can be realized in news reporting, calling for a transition from “ethics of inarticulacy” to ethics of care in journalism practices.
