‘I understood the complexity within diversity’: preparation for partnership with families in early childhood settings

‘Partnership between parents and teachers’ is a taken-for-granted feature of the philosophy and practice of early childhood education. Yet, the literature suggests this rhetoric belies a more complex and problematic reality for teachers. Making connections with the families and communities they will serve may help teacher education students confront understandings of the realities of family lives and assist them to prepare for their professional responsibilities. Teacher education literature suggests that supported field experiences may assist student teachers to examine their beliefs and reflect on their practices with families. This paper reports on the experiences of student teachers who undertook a community placement in order to interact with children and families outside their normal range of teaching practice experience. Three themes of changes in student learning are discussed: (1) beliefs about partnerships; (2) notions of complexities within diversity; and (3) developing relationships with diverse families. The paper argues that the change in placement setting prompted student reflection in relation to these themes and shifts in beliefs, towards more authentic and complex understandings of partnership.     

Supporting children with Down syndrome within mainstream education settings: parental reflections

This study draws upon data gathered from five parents who have children with Down syndrome (DS), being educated in mainstream settings in England. The parental perspective of practices, both inclusive and otherwise, is explored through a qualitative lens. Findings suggest that early intervention, such as portage, is important. However, access to services varied across authorities. Additionally, some participants highlighted issues around the Education, Health Care Plan and subsequent annual reviews. Overall, this study offers examples of inclusive practice in the areas of supporting language and communication needs, parental partnership and transition between educational phases for children with DS. However, there are inconsistencies across providers and there is a need for more research into these areas in the future.

近年来，全球外交领域出现了一些引人注目的现象：许多国家忙着建立伙伴关系，经济外交日趋突出，首脑会晤次数增加，热线电话彼伏此起。面对这种情况，我国也实施了全方位的、积极的伙伴外交战略，这不仅标志着我国与外部世界关系的发展已进入一个新阶段，而且非常有利于我国的和平崛起。     

Developing a virtual engineering management community

The paper reviews the lessons of planning and running an Engineering Management practitioner development programme in a partnership between BP and the University of Manchester. This distance-learning programme is for professional engineers in mid-career experienced in the engineering and support activities for delivering safe, compliant and reliable projects and operations worldwide. The programme concentrates on the why and how of leadership and judgement in managing the engineering of large and small projects and operational support. Two intensive residential weeks are combined with a virtual learning environment over one year. Assessed assignments between and after the residential weeks provide opportunities for individual reflective learning for each delegate through applying concepts and the lessons of case studies to their experience, current challenges and expected responsibilities. This successful partnership between a major global company and a university rich in research and teaching required a significant dedication of intellectual and leadership effort by all concerned. The rewards for both parties and most importantly for the engineers themselves are extensive.     

当代西方政府改革研究——比较行政的视角

当代西方政府改革已走过了30多年的历程,其做法趋势体现了当代公共管理的新理念.本文在通过对比当代西方各国政府改革实践的基础上,得出了当代西方政府在改革中寻求"有限"与"有为"平衡发展的结论,并提出了对我国政府改革的一些启示.     

一人公司的立法探源

自1925年列支敦士登开一人公司立法之先河以来,一人公司便走上了立法之路。随着1892年德国有限责任公司法的颁布,一人公司在各国的立法如同星星之火,逐渐燎亮。但一人公司理论皆来自国外,我国欠缺理论的积淀及实务的养成,因此,本文试图对一人公司国外立法之路径及相关理论进行系统的梳理。

在会计领域进行博弈分析是可能的，会计作为企业的职能部门，具有经济决策功能，经济决策涉及到利益冲突的相关方，因而在会计领域进行博弈分析的内容也是十分丰富的。纳入了博弈论分析方法的会计具有决策会计的特征，但它又不同于传统意义上的决策会计。

公私合作中行政机关将部分行政任务交由私人履行,行政机关的履行责任转变为私人的履行责任,行政机关对私人所执行的行政任务负担保责任和监督责任。行政任务承担责任方式的转变给行政法发展带来巨大的挑战,以担保行政为中心的担保行政法孕育产生。     

古代书论的一种二律背反:有限想像和无限想像——以《艺舟双楫》《广艺舟双楫》为例

考察古代书论发现,有限的想像和无限的想像这种二律背反哲学悖论一直存在。究其原因,它和古代文化思维方式密切相关,和古代文学传统密切相关。古代书论从言语的使用一直到方法论,儒学道统的渗透无处不在。古代知识分子形成了一种形象性、感觉性较强,而抽象能力较弱的独特思维方法。这种思维方法投射到了古代书论中。文学的修辞方法与技巧,在书法评论中得到了延续和保留。     

Bridging home and school: understanding immigrant mothers’ cultural capital and concerns about play-based learning

This article explores immigrant mothers’ experiences and perspectives on early learning to identify the underlying principles of parents’ learning theories and their concerns about pedagogic practices at school. It employs data from interviews with nineteen immigrant mothers that reveal a discord between learning beliefs and practices at home and school. The paper argues that mothers’ cultural capital may shape their perspectives on learning, which may subsequently influence their children’s cultural capital and interests. Supporting children’s learning at school requires examining home learning beliefs so that teachers can establish a two-way exchange of knowledge, ideas and perspectives with common objectives of respecting differences and exploring possible reconciliation of differences. This paper urges educators to bridge home and school through engaging in dialogue with parents so that parents’ cultural capital and their understanding about play-based learning work to their children’s advantage.
