社会语言学视域下语码转换的成因--以民办本科院校英语课堂教学为例

文章以社会语言学理论为基础,以民办本科院校的英语课堂教学为例,分析了民办本科院校英语课堂教学现状。并从课堂气氛的调节、良好师生关系的建立、教学信息的传递、师生对目的语的认知程度及语言顺应性方面分析了大学英语课堂语码转换的成因,分析了语码转换过程中的心理因素。     

一项针对英语专业本科生的语用能力实证研究

本研究以书面测试试卷为研究工具,以山东某高校英语专业一至四年级本科生为受试,通过测试他们跨文化交际中的语用失误率情况对其相应的语用能力进行实证研究。研究发现,受试的语言能力和其语用失误率(R值=-.432,P值=.000,<0.05)、英语专业四级成绩与其语用失误率(R=-.458,P值=.000,<0.05)分别存在统计学意义上的显著性负相关关系。因此,本研究结论是:受试的语言能力越强,英语专业四级成绩越高,相应的语用能力就越强,存在显著相关性。     

Changing the guard: Staff turnover as a source of variation in test results

Due to variation in test difficulty, the use of pre-fixed cut-off scores in criterion-referenced standard setting methods may lead to variation in grades and pass rates. This paper aims to empirically investigate the strength of this relationship. To this end we examine a dataset of over 500 observations from an institution of higher education in The Netherlands over the period 2008–2013. We measure variation in test difficulty by using students’ perceptions of the validity of the examination and by recording personnel changes in the primary instructor. The latter measure is based on the considerable variation in teachers’ ability to assess test difficulty that is found in the literature. Other explanatory variables are course evaluations, instructor evaluations and self-reported study time. Variation in student quality is controlled for by measuring course results in deviation from the cohort average. We take a panel approach in estimating the effect of the explanatory variables on the variability in grades and pass rates. Our findings indicate that exam validity and instructor change are significantly related to variation in test results. The latter finding supports the hypothesis that instructors’ difficulty in assessing test difficulty may introduce subjectivity in criterion-referenced standard setting methods.     

中国英语的语言特征及其对跨文化交际的作用

本文旨在通过对中国英语的语言特征的分析,论证中国英语对跨文化交际的作用。文章分析了中国英语在语音、词汇、语法和语篇四个层面的语言特征。通过论证中国英语的客观存在性和可接受性,文章指出了中国英语对跨文化交际的意义,它不仅继承和发扬了中国文化还保护了中国文化。     

目的视阈下商务英语信函中的选择研究

随着经济全球化以及中国对外贸易的迅猛发展,商务话语研究,特别是商务英语信函研究受到了越来越多的重视。首先对前人的语言选择观进行总结,在此基础上,选择真实的商务英语信函作为语料,从目的原则的视角对其中的选择现象进行研究。研究结果表明商务英语信函中的选择具有目的性、策略性、变化性等特点;选择是一个由信函目的驱动的过程,目的是驱动选择行为的动力;目的又是进行正确选择的依据,并且贯穿于选择的始终。     

图示理论对独立学院大学英语听力教学的启示

根据图示理论,听力理解过程就是听者的已有图示与输入信息相互作用的过程。而传统的大学英语听力教学课堂仅仅是重复枯燥的听力练习课,缺乏激活学生已有图示的教学环节。这样的教学模式对于独立学院许多听力水平偏低的学生来讲,听了等于没听,有听没懂,无法取得理想的教学效果。鉴于此,本文就如何将图示理论应用于大学英语听力教学提出了一些建议。     

中外科技论文英文摘要体裁人际意义话语特征分析

通过对比分析中文和国际农业核心期刊英文摘要语料库,探讨中外学者在科技论文英文摘要人际话语特征（宏观修辞结构和元话语）使用中的差异。研究发现,国际期刊英文摘要更注重利用背景和结论语步开启和拓展作者与读者的对话空间;中外学者对模糊限制语、强调词、内指标记语、自我提及语等元话语手段的使用也体现出不同的规律特点。研究结果显现了中外学者对建构英文摘要人际意义的不同理解,对于科技论文英文摘要写作教学有启示作用。

This article explores an example in finances in order to motivate the random variable learning to the very beginners in statistics. In addition, it offers a relationship between standard deviation and range in a very specific situation.     

Writing Matters: Linguistic Characteristics of Writing in GCSE English Examinations

The article describes the outcomes of a national investigation in the UK into the linguistic characteristics of writing in GCSE English examinations. The study analysed samples of writing in terms of their correctness, effectiveness and patterns of linguistic features used. This article exemplifies how the procedure used can provide valuable information about what writers can and can't do and argues that greater precision in describing writing will promote better teaching and learning.
