Researching and conceptualising the field

This concluding paper examines the contributions in this Guest Issue by locating them within the ongoing debates about the role and contribution of social science research, particularly through the production of journals. Set in the context of on-going attacks on the relevance of social science research and the failure to respond to major crises that affect us all, I argue that the field of educational leadership is an important site for showing the dangers of becoming relevant and accepting that a constructed crisis is a crisis. I argue for intellectual work within the field of educational leadership, and use the critical and socially critical traditions to illuminate this. The papers in this Guest Issue are located in these traditions, and so I examine the contribution made through problematising educational leadership, examining the realities of working lives in schools and conceptualising alternative ways of thinking about professional practice.

The treasure house of a nation? Literary heritage,curriculum and devolution in Scotland and England in the twenty-first century

In January 2012, Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond announced a radical measure that would see every Scottish school student study a Scottish text from a prescribed list. In 2010, Michael Gove announced that ‘Our literature is the best in the world’ and that every pupil should study particular authors. The ‘cultural heritage’ model of English is increasingly dismissed by teachers and students However, it is this ‘cultural heritage’ model which is preserved in the discourse of politicians. This paper explores the role that literary heritage texts play in the discourse of education policy in the context of devolution in twenty-first century Britain and considers the drivers and differences which can be seen in England and Scotland.

“油气田勘探”课程是地质工程专业的必修课,教学内容实践性和综合性较强.地质工程专业二学位本科生学习期短且基础薄弱,如何有效地提高授课效率是值得探讨的问题.笔者针对课程内容和学生特点,在改进教学方式、调整课程体系、增加实验环节、优化考核方式等方面做了探讨和尝试,取得了较好的教学效果.     

我国开展女子十项全能运动的必要性及实施策略

运用献资料、逻辑归纳、对比分析、专家访谈等方法，分析奥运会田径项目发展趋势，指出男女田径项目设置将最终走向数量、形式上完全融合，提出我国提前开展女子十项全能运动的原因、意义及实施措施，旨在为我国田径运动更好地开展及竞技运动水平的快速提高提供参考依据。     

Students’ Reflections on Their Field Practicum: An Analysis of BSW Student Narratives

This qualitative study was undertaken to explore what undergraduate students reflect on during their learning to practice social work in the field. Reflection is essential in the social work field practicum where students learn the practice of social work by doing. Seventeen BSW students’ final field practicum learning papers are analyzed. Four themes emerge that highlight the content of their reflections: situations of uncertainty, opportunities for application, tensions in action, and confrontations with others. This article presents in detail these 4 themes. Discussion includes suggestions for helping students better engage in reflective learning.     

田野调查法在民族学研究中的作用

我国早期的民族学研究方法大多来自西方,本土化水平并不高,但随着国内民族学学科发展,研究方法也愈渐成熟,作为民族学学科的主要研究方法,田野调查法也日益展现出其重要作用。但对于年轻的研究者来说,如何去运用这个方法却面临着种种问题,如书面知识与实际操作化的差异,参与观察中价值中立的原则性难题,学科道德规范与世俗伦理的碰撞,何为真实性的原则问题等。即使在田野调查法如此成熟的今天,研究者进行实际操作时仍然面临不少问题,而这些问题对民族学学科发展提出了新的挑战。同时也是对研究者的挑战,对研究者提出更高的要求:要拥有创新意识,拓宽思维模式,为民族学开创新的道路。
