The Physical Educator as Evaluator

There has been a limited interest in examining physical education teacher educators’ role and practices in embedding professional responsibility and commitment to continued professional learning for both teacher educators and pre-service teachers in a physical education teacher education (PETE) program (MacPhail, 2011) Directed by a landscape of community of practice (CoP) as professional development (Parker, Patton &; Tannehill, 2012), this article shares four case studies that demonstrate the extent to which PETE learning can be mapped onto the landscape. In essence, a CoP is sustained over time, involves shared member goals, involves frequent discourse, is active and social, and is characterized by problems being solved by the members. The ideas in this article in tandem with Wenger's (1998) CoP process can encourage teacher educators to consider whether opportunities undertaken in a PETE program, and with colleagues external to the PETE program, encourage an authentic CoP.     

The effect of gender,deceit orientation and communicator style on macro‐assessments of honesty

Recently, deception research has focused primarily on micro‐analytic methods of lie detection (e.g., eye contact duration, response latency, vocal errors). This study adopted a macro‐assessment approach, where deception detection is based on global evaluations of communication, specifically honesty evaluation based on communicator style. 385 subjects viewed four different videotape segments of individuals participating in a simulated job interview. Two of the individuals were truthful throughout the interview, and two fabricated false information on some questions. Subjects were asked to evaluate or assess the honesty level of these individuals, as well as assess a number of communicator style dimensions. Multiple regression analyses revealed that honesty assessments can be predicted from communication style characterized by high friendliness, attentiveness, and preciseness, and low animated and dramatic styles. Some differences were observed for communicator style predictions of honesty based on liars/truthers, subject gender, target gender, and deceit‐orientation differences. Implications for future research are noted.

地方高校社科学报“文学研究”栏目的设置构想

“文学研究”是地方高校社科学报重点培育的项目。编辑部在解决版面紧张与优质稿源稀缺的矛盾时,要注重对青年作者的培养,鼓励他们与栏目的发展共同成长。栏目细分要灵活机动,重义趣。要关注栏目风格的培养。最后,在地方化的问题上,要厚古不薄今,甚至是要更重视对地方当代作家的研究。     

‘Flexibility’, Community and Making Parents Responsible

This article draws on Foucault's concept of governmentality to explore how recent political moves to legalise ‘flexibility’ mobilises education authorities to make ‘community’ a technical means of achieving the political objective of schooling the child. I argue that ‘flexibility’ in this sense is a neo‐liberal strategy that shifts relations between the governed and the State. In this way, it transforms the idea of schooling from a State run institution for the purpose of ‘community building’ to a community run institution for the purpose of making parents governable by both instrumentalising and institutionalising individualism through the force of community membership. Rather than a form of liberation from bureaucratic rule, the paper exposes how ‘flexibility’ acts as a normalising strategy that works with difference to entangle parents as community members in the process of schooling the child through the moral obligation of the contract.     

A ‘whole-school/community development’ approach to preventing and countering bullying: the Erris Anti-Bullying Initiative (2009–2011)

This paper describes how a ‘whole-school/community development’ anti-bullying programme was designed, implemented and evaluated in an initiative in Erris, Co. Mayo, Ireland, involving local primary and post-primary schools and community groups. Students from seven participating schools (five primary, two post-primary) completed modified versions of the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire both prior to and following programme implementation. Thereafter, there were reductions in students' reports of involvement in bully/victim problems and increases in their reports of feelings about bullying and countering bullying that were consistent with an anti-bullying ethos. The sizes of these effects were modest, in some cases perhaps due to the significantly low incidence of students' involvement in bully/victim problems prior to the programme. This model is in continued use in Erris, and in its further development it is intended to seek out opportunities to implement and evaluate it in other locations.     

“三位一体”社区教育队伍建设的研究

社区教育队伍是决定社区教育质量的关键要素。在明确社区教育队伍的构成和社区教育特点的基础上,指出对社区教育师资的特殊要求。通过实证研究,对目前师资队伍在组建、运行、管理方面存在的主要问题进行分析梳理,并尝试提出建立"三位一体"社区教育队伍的构想,对其在构建、运行与管理方面提出了建议,以期为社区教育队伍建设,提高社区教育质量,实现社区教育绩效最优化起到一定的指导与借鉴作用。     

地方高校融入区域协同创新发展践行路径探索

地方高校融入区域协同创新发展体现其办学价值,是其“服务社会,引领社会”的时代新模式之一。文章从地方高校办学的内外在条件因素,分析指出了该类高校融入区域协同创新的优弱势,并从“培育协同创新体”、“夯实协同创新基础”、“增强科研导向性”三大方面,提出地方高校融入区域协同创新的践行路径之思考。     

地方院校应用型人才培养的问题与对策

地方院校承担着为区域经济和社会发展提供大量高素质应用型、技能型、复合型人才的职能。近十几年来,随着时代的变革和科学技术的快速发展,地方院校也实现了办学层次、规模上的快速发展,但人才培养质量问题一直是困扰着的难题。应用型人才的培养定位、模式、目标以及如何实施是地方院校提高人才培养质量必须面对的任务。     

从综合实践活动课程的实施看教师学习共同体的成长

本文试从如今正在进行的新课程改革中,寻找一个视点即综合实践活动课程的实施中,存在的与教师有关的问题出发,结合新课程改革的精神和教师专业发展的要求,探索教师共同体的构建与成长过程,并提出了以若干教师共同体促进综合实践活动课程发展的新思路。
