在网络拥塞控制（AQM）策略中,RED算法控制参数的设置和网络变化很敏感。这种敏感性严重影响了RED算法在实际中的应用,新策略HERED在RED中使用风险率评估的包丢弃方法。该方法能够根据负载情况动态调整弃包策略,即在轻负载时减缓弃包,在重负载情况下加速弃包。通过基于linux平台使用NS～2网络仿真工具证明了,在各种RED策略中,HERED能够实现更稳定的吞吐率,且由于弃包率最低而具有更好的性能。     

汉英中介语语法中的复数标记

根据中介语理论,二语学习者使用的既不是母语语法,也不完全是第二语言语法,而是处于过渡状态中的中介语语法。就中介语语法中的复数标记而言,中国英语学习者在遇到名词前有形容词修饰时,倾向于省略复数标记／s／;而在遇到某个名词单数复数同形时,或不确定是否名词单复数同形时,倾向于使用单数形式;另外,中学生的名词复数正确使用率高于大学一、二年级的非英语专业学生。     

Can markers detect contract cheating? Results from a pilot study

Contract cheating is the purchasing of custom-made university assignments with the intention of submitting them. Websites providing contract cheating services often claim this form of cheating is undetectable, and no published research has examined this claim. This paper documents a pilot study where markers were paid to mark a mixture of real student work and contract cheating assignments, to establish their accuracy at detecting contract cheating. Seven experienced markers individually blind marked the same bundle of 20 second-year psychology assignments, which included 6 that were purchased from contract cheating websites. Sensitivity analyses showed markers detected contract cheating 62% of the time. Specificity analyses showed markers correctly identified real student work 96% of the time. Our results contrast with contract cheating sites’ claims that contract cheating is undetectable. However, they should be taken with caution as they are from one course unit in one discipline.     

The Durban Holocaust Centre Educators and the Origins of their Historical and Pedagogical Knowledge

Education at Holocaust museums worldwide often falls to volunteer museum educators. The Durban Holocaust Centre in South Africa is no different. We set out to understand who the educators at the Durban Holocaust Centre were, where their historical and pedagogical knowledge came from, and to examine the connection between the two. The study revealed the diverse nature of the museum educators’ biographies as well as their motivations for guiding. Their knowledge acquisition was generally a blend of formal objectivist and informal constructivist methods. It emerged that the self-learning model was successful as the educators were highly professional and sufficiently motivated.

Machine Learning Literacy for Measurement Professionals: A Practical Tutorial

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digitalization of assessment, creating new challenges for measurement professionals, including big data management, test security, and analyzing new validity evidence. In response to these challenges, Machine Learning (ML) emerges as an increasingly important skill in the toolbox of measurement professionals in this new era. However, most ML tutorials are technical and conceptual-focused. Therefore, this tutorial aims to provide a practical introduction to ML in the context of educational measurement. We also supplement our tutorial with several examples of supervised and unsupervised ML techniques applied to marking a short-answer question. Python codes are available on GitHub. In the end, common misconceptions about ML are discussed.
