Placement and frequency of powerless talk and impression formation

Study One examined the influence of initial use of hesitations and hedges on evaluations of witnesses and their persuasiveness in a budget hearing context. Results indicate that the negative attributions generated by the use of powerless language cannot be overcome by subsequent use of powerful talk. Study Two examined the relationship between the frequency of powerless language use and impression formation. For award/character and dynamism a perceptual threshold appeared to operate. The results of both studies suggest that auditors are very sensitive to the influence of powerless talk in formal settings.

外语教学的目的是培养学生运用语言的交际能力,但很多学生由于对语言所属国文化背景的不了解,导致了语言的运用能力降低。基于此,在外语教学中提出跨文化意识培养的若干策略。     

Key Educational Factors in the education of students with a medical condition

The education of children with a medical condition represents a unique educational context. The key educational factors that can help these children continue their education despite the burdens associated with their illness were discussed and analysed by a pool of experts for an EU funded project. In this context, relationships, making sense and constructing knowledge, assuming roles in front of others, metacognition, individualities and inter‐institutional communication emerged as the 6 Key Educational Factors (KEF) that are crucial for the education of this vulnerable population. The implications of the KEFs for home and hospital education are discussed, with a particular focus on practices that meet the relational and communicational needs of these children. Specific recommendations for the practice, policy, and research regarding these KEF within this unique educational context are presented.

基于语料库的《老友记》语块特征分析

词汇学习是提高英语水平的一个必不可少的环节。语料库驱动的语块研究是近年来语言学上关于词汇学习的一个热点。本文就以具体特殊的英语剧本《老友记》为研究对象,采用语料库驱动的方法,对其里面典型的数据进行提取,然后从结构和功能两个方面来呈现语块的特性,以期望能够对英语学习者有帮助。

文章基于对美国部分大学的考察研究,对我国现行的高等教育管理体制、高等学校办学思路和特色、人才培养模式和外语教学四个问题进行了反思,并针对性地提出了若干改革或改进的建议。
