Construcción racional y autónoma de valores y habilidades sociales

La enseñanza de las habilidades sociales requiere el uso de diversas técnicas y procedimiento. En este artículo se relacionan las más directamente implicadas en un currículum de educación moral orientado hacia el desarrollo de la autonomía. Se propone una actividad para el primer ciclo de Educación Primaria. Además, se ofrecen prototipos de actividades para otros tramos educativos.     

Criterios para educar moralmente en una sociedad democrática y plural

El autor plantea la necesidad actual de la Educación Moral, a nivel social y la conveniencia de que la escuela se ocupe de ella de forma intencional y sistemática. Señala, además, las implicaciones que un currículum de Educación Moral conlleva en la vida de la escuela a través de la participación democrática. Insiste en la necesidad de completar un currículum como el propuesto, con acciones que supongan participación en proyectos de trascendencia social.     

La ética: Polémica en el curriculum escolar

Se analiza a continuación la polémica generada en torno a la educación moral y cívica a lo largo de las últimas décadas y, en especial, la derivada de la LOGSE al dotar a la Etica de un carácter transversal generando nuevos planteamientos y perspectivas que procuran su mayor sistematización en el curriculum escolar.     

La interacción familiar como educación moral

Sin lugar a dudas, el estilo de comunicación de los padres influye en el desanollo del razonamiento moral de sus hijos. En este artículo se presentan las conclusiones de diversas investigaciones realizadas al respecto, mostrando cómo las pautas de comunicación familiar reflejan el «estadio» familiar de razonamiento moral y desarrollando, además, un modelo de tratamiento de temas morales entre compañeros de clase denominado discusión transactiva.     

Our teachers want to be the best: on the necessity of intra‐professional reflection about moral ideals of teaching

Teaching is a significant social good and therefore teachers as well as the state have to take responsibility for guarding the moral quality of the teaching practice. Based on this premise, the article describes and defends the view that these parties have their own particular role by means of literature review and theoretical and practical arguments.

The role of the state is necessarily limited to defining minimal moral rules and obligations, because in liberal Western democracies morality is codified in law to a minimal degree. The state also has practical reasons for such a confined position, among which are the complexities of professional practice and its implied tacit knowledge.

Teachers have to take responsibility for constructing the full width of professional morality, but particularly for defining its optimal or aspirational dimension. This dimension comprises the virtues deemed important for teachers as well as their professional ideals. Whereas the literature on professional ethics of teachers is relatively silent about professional ideals, several arguments are provided for the importance of ideals for teachers.

The final part of the article defends the claim that teachers have to articulate their professional ideals through intra‐professional dialogue. Again, theoretical and practical arguments are provided, for instance that such a debate provokes teachers to think about the best aims and means of their profession and that it contributes to the sense and meaning of their work. The article ends with some practical implications of the theoretical exposé.

The way of openness: Moral Sphere Theory,education, ethics,and classroom management

Noting the challenges of radical pluralism and uncertainty to ethics and education, the author describes, then explores Moral Sphere Theory (MST) developed by the philosopher Robert Kane and in relationship to insights drawn from American pragmatism. The argument is that MST offers fresh ways for thinking about education and the profound obligation of educators to support and sustain worthy forms of life.
