Evolving,Not Extinct: Music Reference in the 21st Century

As reference work changes dramatically due to computer technology, tangible reference collections are disappearing from academic libraries in many fields. Such is not the case in music research libraries, however. While many important online music reference resources exist, many print resources remain vitally important, and because of limited funding, they are unlikely to be digitized soon. Music libraries and music reference collections are currently a combination of traditional and online resources, enhanced by human expertise. This beneficial combination should be maintained.     

浅析现代音乐教学与管理趋势

本文分析了在高校教学体系改革的背景下,音乐学院教学与管理改革与发展的趋势,从教师角色的转变、学习者自主性的发挥、以人为本的教学管理理念以及鼓励教学方法的创新等几个方面谈了教学管理的目标和方向,希望对音乐院校教学管理模式的研究和探讨提供参考和借鉴。     

Teaching and Learning Science Through Song: Exploring the experiences of students and teachers

This qualitative, multi-case study explored the use of science-content music for teaching and learning in six middle school science classrooms. The researcher sought to understand how teachers made use of content-rich songs for teaching science, how they impacted student engagement and learning, and what the experiences of these teachers and students suggested about using songs for middle school classroom science instruction. Data gathered included three teacher interviews, one classroom observation and a student focus-group discussion from each of six cases. The data from each unit of analysis were examined independently and then synthesized in a multi-case analysis, resulting in a number of merged findings, or assertions, about the experience. The results of this study indicated that teachers used content-rich music to enhance student understanding of concepts in science by developing content-based vocabulary, providing students with alternative examples and explanations of concepts, and as a sense-making experience to help build conceptual understanding. The use of science-content songs engaged students by providing both situational and personal interest, and provided a mnemonic device for remembering key concepts in science. The use of songs has relevance from a constructivist approach as they were used to help students build meaning; from a socio-cultural perspective in terms of student engagement; and from a cognitive viewpoint in that in these cases they helped students make connections in learning. The results of this research have implications for science teachers and the science education community in developing new instructional strategies for the middle school science classroom.     

我国体育专业毕业生就业率低的原因及对策研究——以12所高等院校体育专业毕业生为样本

本文采用查阅文献资料、综合分析、逻辑推理等方法,对近几年中国体育专业毕业生就业现状及成因进行分析。结果表明：当前体育专业毕业生就业情况非常差,名牌体育院系一次性就业率在20％左右,普通体育院系一次性就业率只在10％以内,不到同期毕业生整体初次就业率的一半,在各类院校中排名最后。中国体育专业毕业生人才资源总量增加、用人单位门槛的提高、高校就业指导体系的不完善、体育专业毕业生自身综合素质偏低等,成为体育专业毕业生就业率低的重要原因。针对这些原因,文章提出了提高体育专业毕业生就业率的对策。     

Music theatre: at the crest of music education's third wave

In the United Kingdom, curricular music education has seen two main waves of development and is in the process of shaping a third. Ideas from the second wave have maintained theoretical dominance to the present day, despite the concerns expressed by some about their practical implementation. This paper suggests that problems with the implementation of second-wave ideas have been caused by hermeneutic complexities inherent to the word ‘music’ as well as by an ongoing ideological debate about the proper purpose of music education. It is proposed here that by approaching musical learning in the emergent third wave through the sub-discipline of ‘music theatre’ – and by conceiving that term in its broadest sense – this interpretive difficulty can be avoided whilst many practical advantages may be reaped. The notion of music theatre as a key component of music education's third wave is explored alongside its theoretical prerequisites, and a number of questions are identified for further consideration.     

后金融危机时代高职院校毕业生就业形势与对策

长期以来高职院校为国家建设和经济发展培养了大批高素质人才,然而,在后金融危机时代背景下高职生就业问题越演越烈,并逐步演变成一个涉及千家万户的民生问题。所以,对后金融危机时代高职生就业形势以及＂就业难＂形成的原因做深入系统的分析和研究,并基于此提出化解高职院校毕业生＂就业难＂的基本策略,对促进高等职业教育健康发展、维护社会稳定、构建和谐社会以及建设创新型国家等都具有重要的战略意义。     

就业困难大学生的群体界定及其帮扶策略

伴随着大学生就业难问题的出现,近年来就业困难大学生群体日益引起政府、学校和社会的关注。然而,人们对就业困难的概念认知与就业困难大学生的群体界定并不一致,从而影响了对这一群体就业帮扶的策略。在对就业困难大学生的就业帮扶中,人为的缩小范围,不利于解决问题,而人为地扩大问题对象,同样难以采取有针对性的帮扶对策。因此,首先需要科学认识就业困难概念的内涵指向,厘清就业困难大学生群体的范围界定,再采取有针对性的帮扶对策。     

Globalization,values education,and school music education in China

This paper examines music education’s legitimation of values as a means of preparing students for entry into the new ‘knowledge society’ of the People’s Republic of China in a global age. It explores the ways in which values education relates to the teaching of both musical and non‐musical meanings in the dual context of nationalism and globalization, and discusses some problems that values education faces in school music classrooms. It examines the ways in which globalization has pressured values education into resolving the apparent contradiction between national identity and national unity in the ever‐changing play of Chinese history and politics. It concludes with a discussion of how music education might juggle three pairs of apparently contradictory relationships in the curriculum: between contemporary cultural and social values on the one hand, and traditional Chinese and Communist ideologies on the other; between collectivism and individualism; and between national and global cultures.     

William Horsley: music master at Miss Black’s boarding‐school for young ladies, 1828–1840

William Horsley (1775–1858) was active in London from the late 1790s. A founder member of the Philharmonic Society, Horsley was at the heart of the musical establishment, working as a composer, organist, commentator and teacher. His teaching career spanned over 50 years, during which time he took private pupils, trained choristers and organists and taught at many boarding‐schools for young ladies. In 1809 Miss Ann Black took up residence at 37 Kensington Square, where she opened a boarding‐school and engaged Horsley as music master in 1828. Her school prospectus and surviving correspondence offer an insight into the difficulty of sustaining a viable school business in a competitive market. Horsley’s papers shed light on the business dealings between masters and school proprietors, both depending on income from pupils to sustain them. Through his correspondence and published work we learn more of Horsley’s teaching method and of his working relationships with his pupils.
