作品的展现与审美经验的传播——一种艺术现象学的视角

作为审美对象,艺术作品以直观的方式向审美者显现自身,但这种显现相关于审美经验的生成。针对作品的审美活动,就是审美对象与审美经验的相互生成。审美经验的传播就是审美经验经由媒介所发生的交融,但传播媒介在显现作品和艺术时,又遮蔽了它们自身。只有不断地去蔽,才能让艺术的本性与存在相关切,从而让审美经验生成生活自身的意义。

语言中的颜色词语除了表示大自然的绚丽色彩外，同时也体现不同的文化内涵，不同的民族文化反映不同的民族文化心理，人们对颜色的感受和表迭不尽相同，从而产生不同的联想。生产力的国际化，国际社会交流的日益密切，同时也扩大了英汉语言之问的渗透与融合。     

Unemployment and social class stigmas

Western economies have seen a shift away from a model of job security to a model of work precarity. Cycles of unemployment are a defining feature of the new precarious economy. Given these cycles of unemployment, it becomes imperative to explore the barriers to reemployment. The present study uses stigma communication to explore the intersection of two barriers to reemployment: the stigmatization of unemployment and social class position. Analysis of 40 interviews revealed that the meaning of unemployment changed depending on the perceived social class of an unemployed person. Participants described typical unemployed people as pathologically lazy and unmotivated. Upper class unemployed people were stigmatized as a product of privilege. Middle class unemployed people were relatively unstigmatized. The typical unemployed person merged with the typical unemployed lower class person, suggesting that the dominant meaning of unemployment assumes that unemployment is a lower class phenomenon that is preventable if the lower class person would work harder.     

Addressing the challenges of critical communication pedagogy scholarship: moving toward an applied agenda

Critical communication pedagogy (CCP) scholarship is a relatively new and important area of research that evaluates how language is used to both empower and marginalize. It faces challenges in terms of recognition and publication outlets. In this essay, I argue that scholars face obstacles when attempting to publish pedagogical work that is critical in nature. I make the case that a major reason that CCP scholarship is not as widely recognized is that it is largely not considered to be applied work. By sharing my experiences, I argue that scholars working in CCP can help to overcome these barriers to recognition and publication by developing an applied language and focus for CCP, demonstrating how CCP can be used to recognize and respond to hegemony in the classroom and in society.     

Supporting Mexican immigrants’ resettlement in the United States: an ethnography of communication approach to building allies’ communication competence

This research explores interactions among Mexican immigrants and their U.S.- and Mexican-born allies at an immigrant support center (ISC) in the U.S. Southwest. I propose that to support Mexican immigrants in resettling, allies who work at this ISC must apply cultural knowledge about competent communication for Mexican speakers to structure their strategic actions (Sprain & Boromisza-Habashi, 2013). Taking an ethnography of communication (EOC) approach, I investigate the means and meanings of communication (Hymes, 1972) for speakers that point to cultural knowledge about competent communication. Data for this study include 7 months of observation, interviews with 37 community and staff members, and public documents collected during fieldwork. Findings reveal five means of communication that are meaningful for speakers at ISC. This research demonstrates the practical utility of the EOC in understanding how cultural expectations for communication may both assist and limit ISC’s efforts to support resettlement.     

Library Marketing on a Small Liberal Arts Campus: Assessing Communication Preferences

As part of a newly created library marketing plan, librarians at the College of Wooster undertook a study of the communication preferences of students, faculty, and staff in early 2015. The results of the survey helped to develop a comprehensive picture of what library resources and services these constituencies are interested in learning about, as well as when, where, and how they prefer to learn about them. This article describes the development, distribution, results, and analysis of the survey, and highlights the importance of campus-specific library marketing practices.     

高校图书馆微信公众平台的媒介引力场模型及其影响因素——基于DEMATEL系统因素分析的大众传播视角

[目的/意义] 借鉴大众传播理论开展高校图书馆微信公众平台的媒介引力场模型及其影响因素研究,有利于高校图书馆与微信平台间的服务融合、创新优化与应用推广,对改善我国高校图书馆服务水平,促进高校图书馆的整体服务能力具有重要的参考意义。[方法/过程] 以马莱茨克大众传播模型（CMR）理论框架为基础构建指标因素,基于DEMATEL系统因素分析的大众传播视角,构建高校图书馆微信公众平台的媒介引力场模型,并对其影响因素进行深度挖掘分析。根据各指标要素的影响度、被影响度、中心度和原因度等影响因素的分析结果,结合因果关系四象限图,提出若干提升高校图书馆微信公众平台服务质量和传播效果的建议和对策。[结果/结论] 提出一种具有创新性、科学性、严谨性的高校图书馆微信公众平台媒介引力场模型和影响因素体系,为高校图书馆微信公众平台服务质量和传播效果评价体系构建提供理论参考辅助。     

Distinguishing technologies for social interaction: The perceived social affordances of communication channels scale

The concept of affordances in communication technology research has proven to be heuristically provocative, yet perceived affordances are rarely measured. After extracting commonly cited social affordances from the literature, we developed a measure to assess participants’ perceptions of these affordances. The scale was tested across eight communication channels in two studies (face-to-face; texting; phone; email; posts on social networking sites, specifically Facebook; instant messaging; Skype videoconferencing; and mobile app Snapchat). A factor structure was developed in Study 1 and confirmed in Study 2. The resultant Perceived Social Affordances of Communication Channels Scale includes 41 items measuring 10 communicative affordances: accessibility, bandwidth, social presence, privacy, network association, personalization, persistence, editability, conversation control, and anonymity. Potential methodological and theoretical applications are discussed.
