济慈"消极感受力"的智性光芒

英国浪漫主义诗人济慈所提出的"消极感受力"的命题中所包蕴的现代性、后现代性思想和诗与艺术本真超越尘俗的精神在济慈研究,外国文学研究与文艺理论批评中都未得到完全,充分,足够的重视.本文正是试图从"消极感受力"这一命题的视角出发,初步阐发了只活了26岁的年轻诗人济慈,用自己的诗意生命所体悟到的个人艺术才能与对诗学传统文化的"消极"状态的关系,及诗人自身的分裂与诗人无个性意识的伟大的现代性,后现代性思想的火花,并且大胆的把济慈对艺术的体悟与中国道家"为道日损"的境界相互阐发,体悟济慈对艺术本体的认识.     

Action,an ‘encompassing ethic’ and academics in the midst of the climate crisis

In the midst of a crisis like the climate crisis and calls for ‘all hands on deck’, what do academics, as a microcosm of humanity, see? In Hannah Arendt’s terms, an ‘abyss of freedom’ to act or a paralysing ‘abyss of nothingness’? Some from the academy themselves, including Tamboukou, Apple and Bourdieu, make judgements more akin to the latter and mount arguments to urge action. This paper joins their call and theorises ethical and demonstrably plausible resources as a potentially generative heuristic for political action by academics in the face of ‘dark times’. I develop these resources by initially drawing on Arendt’s ethical, but limited, action process. Then, through interpreting and expanding her unfinished theory of judging and echoing Karl Jaspers' concept The Encompassing, I propose the notion of an ‘encompassing ethic’. This ethic, synthesised with Arendt’s action process, ameliorates action’s limitations and suggests the idea of ‘encompassing action’. The paper concludes by bringing these conceptual resources to life through two inspiring historical examples of such action involving academics.

Action learning in virtual higher education: applying leadership theory

This paper reports the historical foundation of Northeastern University’s course, LDR 6100: Developing Your Leadership Capability, a partial literature review of action learning (AL) and virtual action learning (VAL), a course methodology of LDR 6100 requiring students to apply leadership perspectives using VAL as instructed by the author, questionnaire and survey results of students who evaluated the effectiveness of their application of leadership theories using VAL and insights believed to have been gained by the author administering VAL. Findings indicate most students thought applying leadership perspectives using AL was better than considering leadership perspectives not using AL. In addition as implemented in LDR 6100, more students evaluated VAL positively than did those who assessed VAL negatively.
