What troubles early childhood educators in New Zealand: a 20-year cross-sectional study of ethical difficulties in early childhood practice

For more than 20 years, the New Zealand early childhood (EC) sector has had guidance about how to deal with situations of ethical difficulty in daily practice through the ECE Code of Ethics. This paper reports on three surveys undertaken at 10-year intervals that sought to understand EC educators’ experiences of such situations, and how they addressed them within their EC settings. An analysis of educators’ stories of ethically troubling situations from the three data-sets traced shifts and similarities in the content reported, and in how educators responded to these challenges over the two-decade period. We situate this analysis alongside changes in the New Zealand ECE policy context during the same time frame. We argue that a connection exists between the reported situations and teachers’ responses to them, and changes within the policy and professional context of daily EC practice.     

河北省特教学校师资现状的调查研究

河北省特殊教育的发展在全国相对滞后,突出的表现是特教学校的教育、教学质量比较差。影响特教学校教育、教学质量的因素之一是师资的素质。笔者通过对全省95%的特教学校师资状况进行调查分析,发现特教学校师资队伍存在一些问题,并根据河北省“十五”期间特殊教育发展的总规划提出了一些可行性建议。这可为河北省有关部门制定特殊教育发展政策提供依据。

河北省衡水市中学体育现状分析

中学体育是学校体育的重要组成部分,也是全民健身体育及竞技体育的基础。通过对河北省衡水市部分中学体育教学现状进行的调查,发现衡水市有相当比例的中学,体育教学质量令人担忧,这不仅与各校体育教师的师资结构有关,还与体育设施、体育器材上的不足所造成的影响有关。针对所存在的问题,提出了改进建议,希望能为改善河北省衡水市中学体育教学现状提供参考依据。

先秦时期是中国历史上的“轴心时代”,“轴心时代”创生了极为丰富的原创性教育思想,这些具有历久弥新生命力的原创性教育思想对于丰富中国教育理论,指导中国的教育改革与实践曾经发生并正在发生着十分重要的影响,分析其促生因素,挖掘其意义与价值有助于更好地借鉴历史的智慧,进一步推动我国的教育创新。

通过对巢湖周边地区农村基层社会体育组织三种类型的调查,分析当前农村基层社会体育组织运行与发展的特点和存在问题,为新农村建设中发展农民体育和在农村全面构建全民健身服务体系提供参考依据。     

What Can the Teacher Learn in the Classroom?

Our research is concerned with teacher’s knowledge, and especially with teacher’s processes of learning, in the classroom, from observing and interacting with students’ work. In the first part of the paper, we outline the theoretical framework of our study and distinguish it from some other perspectives. We argue for the importance of distinguishing a kind of teacher’s knowledge, which we call didactic knowledge. In this paper, we concentrate on a subcategory of this knowledge, namely observational didactic knowledge, which grows from teacher’s observation and reflection upon students’ mathematical activity in the classroom. In modeling the processes of evolution of this particular knowledge in teachers, we are inspired, among others, by some general aspects of the theory of didactic situations. In the second part of the paper, the model is applied in two case studies of teachers conducting ordinary lessons. In conclusion, we will discuss what seems to be taken into account by teachers as they observe students’ activity, and how in-service teacher training can play a role in modifying their knowledge about students’ ways of dealing with mathematical problems.
