The Phenomenology of Space in Writing Online

In this paper we explore the phenomenon of writing online. We ask, 'Is writing by means of online technologies affected in a manner that differs significantly from the older technologies of pen on paper, typewriter, or even the word processor in an off-line environment?' In writing online, the author is engaged in a spatial complexity of physical, temporal, imaginal, and virtual experience: the writing space, the space of the text, cyber space, etc. At times, these may provide a conduit to a writerly understanding of human phenomena. We propose that an examination of the phenomenological features of online writing may contribute to a more pedagogically sensitive understanding of the experiences of online seminars, teaching and learning.     

Factors influencing faculty satisfaction with online teaching and learning in higher education

Faculty satisfaction is considered an important factor of quality in online courses. A study was conducted to identify and confirm factors affecting the satisfaction of online faculty at a small research university, and to develop and validate an instrument that can be used to measure perceived faculty satisfaction in the context of the online learning environment. The online faculty satisfaction survey (OFSS) was developed and administered to all instructors who had taught an online course in fall 2007 or spring 2008 at a small research university in the USA. One hundred and two individuals completed the web‐based questionnaire. Results confirm that three factors affect satisfaction of faculty in the online environment: student‐related, instructor‐related, and institution‐related factors.     

How do we rate? An evaluation of online student evaluations

This paper analyses the popular RateMyProfessors (RMP) website where students evaluate instructors in higher education. A study was designed to measure (1) the awareness and utilisation of the RMP website, (2) the internal and external validity of the RMP ratings in measuring teaching effectiveness, and (3) variation in the above across disciplines. It is concluded that the category of ratings, created by the website, establishes an anti‐intellectual tone that manifests itself in comments about instructors’ personality, easiness of workload and entertainment value rather than knowledge attained.     

网络教学中的教师角色实证研究

在网络教学中,教师的职责主要通过发布帖子体现.本研究中,笔者首先利用Berge(1995)的教学性、管理性、社会性、技术性四维角色模型,通过对教师发布的帖子进行内容分析,对三位高校教师、两位中学教师的在线教学角色进行了研究,其中,各有一位高校教师和中学教师是第一次开展网络教学.研究发现,教学性角色和管理性角色是教师最重要的两个角色.同时,笔者还利用社会网络分析(SNA)方法,对包括教师和排除教师两种情况的交互网络进行了分析,独立样本t检验发现,当把教师从交互网络中排除出去后,密度差异和入度网络中心势的差异在统计学上达到显著,这说明教师在交互过程中具有重要的影响.对于出度网络中心势分析,排除中学教师后交互网络的降幅在70%以上.中学师生交互网络和高校新手教师交互网络呈现了更多的以教师为中心的特点,而有经验高校老师参与的师生交互网络体现了更多的以学生为中心的特点.最后,笔者指出了本研究所存在的局限,并对后续研究计划进行了讨论.     

也论网上学习的发生及条件——兼与黄荣怀《网上学习：学习真的发生了吗？》商榷

网络教育的质量问题已经成为制约远程教育良性发展的障碍,有学者就此对"网上学习是否发生"及"网上学习发生的条件"进行了有意义的研究.本文在这一背景下,对网上学习是否发生这一问题进行了深入的再探讨,结论认为:网上学习不是没有发生,而是没有有效发生.进而通过对学习发生条件的分析和梳理,对原有的五条件进行了必要的删除、修正和补充,并提出了一些可供深入探讨的有益观点..     

网络教学平台功能之比较研究——以香港公开大学与上海电视大学为例

香港公开大学与上海电视大学都是国内远程教育领域里的领头羊,从办学方式、办学理念、教学模式、生源素质、网上教学等角度来看,两校有着诸多相似之处.站在学习者的角度,为他们提供优质的服务莫过于为他们提供功能强大的网络教学平台.为了能更好地践行"两个一切"办学宗旨,本研究采用问卷调查方法,分析两校网络教学平台功能上的差异,从而总结各自的优点和缺点,并分析学习者最常用、最喜欢和最关心的功能,对网络教学平台的改版升级有着非常重要的参考价值.同时,对于其他远程教育单位也有借鉴意义.

网络教育究竟是新的突破,还是对传统的破坏?它能否为学生提供优质的服务,或许它将破坏加拿大良好的现行教育体制?加拿大高校的网络教育正在探索中,它与全球化网络教育所面临的主要问题相似。     

大学生网络购物自我认同的建构——从个体层面看

随着互联网的迅速发展,网络购物越来越受到人们的关注。它作为一种不同于传统购物的新兴消费形式,正以其独特的力量改变着社会生活的方方面面。作为白领阶层后备军的大学生是网络购物中的最主要群体,其参与网络购物具有深刻的社会学意义。本研究发现,网络购物作为一种新型消费形式,是对传统消费形式的继承和创新,消费社会学中的自我认同理论适用于网络购物。在大学生网络购物中,网络购物满足大学生符号性、体验性和功能性需求;自我认同是社会面向和个人面向的整合;自我认同是一个不断建构的过程。     

电子治理时期地方政府公信力的构建分析

近年来,我国政府所提供的在线公共服务得到了社会的肯定。但是,电子治理模式下的政府公信力却在不断地降低,尤其是我国地方政府的公信力正处在一个低潮时期,对此,各地方政府必须在实施政务公开与信息反馈、平衡政民关系、推行移动政务与信息共享和严肃对待网络监督与制度保障等方面积极做出回应,才能有效地推动地方政府公信力的提升。     

维特根斯坦语义整体论与外语词汇教学

文章结合维特根斯坦的语义整体论,从语词的意义这一语言哲学的基本问题的角度,探讨其对外语教学中的词汇教学的启发。在对维特根斯坦后期语义整体论的两个主要概念：即语言游戏说和意义使用说的分析基础上,文章认为整体论对外语词汇教学的启示有两方面：第一,词汇的习得与语词意义的理解有着密切的关系,而词义的理解在于对词汇的使用;第二,词义的理解离不开相应的语境,因此语境知识的补充是提高词汇习得水平的有效方法之一。
