This study is an analysis of the impact on students of their experience of an alternative placement. The placement was run with Year 2 students on a three-year undergraduate initial teacher education degree programme (primary, 3–11) in England. The placement enabled students to have a practical teaching experience in any setting outside the age phase they were training to teach. The analysis is based on a cohort evaluation of the placement (170 students). Data were collected in two ways: through students’ written reflections and their identification of the standards required for Qualified Teacher Status that they experienced. This approach was selected owing to the strong expectations by the UK Government to meet set criteria to qualify as a teacher. There is one direct reference in the standards to learning outside the classroom, but it was found that the students considered they had benefited from the alternative placement by offering opportunities for their professional and personal development in many more areas. The research study found that these areas included learning from other experts, working with colleagues, gaining confidence to teach, experiencing other cultural settings, working with children in informal settings, the importance of personalising learning and, in some cases, experiencing second language teaching.  相似文献

家庭教育负担微观上影响居民生活,宏观上制约我国经济转型,是一个重要的研究议题。采用国家统计局在2007年对21个城市的城镇居民家庭入户教育调查数据,本文分析了家庭教育支出水平和负担的影响因素,获得以下实证结果:首先,低收入家庭的教育负担更重。其次,义务教育阶段的家庭教育负担要明显小于非义务教育阶段的家庭教育负担。此外,教育负担存在显著的地区差异。根据以上结论,本文提出了相应的政策建议。  相似文献

太平天国在14年的革命历程中产生了大量档案,然而,在国内,这些档案随着太平天国运动的失败几经磨难、丢失和损毁。幸而,在国外还有大量的太平天国档案得以保存。文章在前贤的基础上对流失海外的太平天国档案进行整合汇总,将收藏在海外的太平天国档案调查清楚,为将来追索这些太平天国档案提供参考。  相似文献

As more students with special educational needs attend mainstream schools, it is critical that the role and operation of special schools be examined. This article reports on two case studies, one special school in England and one in Ireland, which formed part of a national review of the role of special schools and special classes in Ireland. Two students, in each case study school, were shadowed and observed during two‐day visits by the research team. These students, and everyone belonging to them, were interviewed and relevant documents were analysed. Findings are discussed in terms of responding to students' needs through: organization of teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership, specialist staff, collaboration and links outside the special school. The implications are considered with reference to research, policy and practice and the authors conclude that the evidence provides support for maintaining the special school as an integral part of the continuum of educational provision for students with special educational needs.  相似文献

Abstract

The out-of-field phenomenon, that is the situation where teachers teach outside their field of expertise, adds complexity to the education environment and affects learners, colleagues, parents, governing bodies and school management. It puts extra strain on school management's responsibility to provide quality management and jeopardises effective teaching and quality learning. This article examines the implications of the out-of-field phenomenon for school management. An empirical investigation entailing the use of a qualitative approach was employed for the study. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with selected participants who shared their experiences of the phenomenon. Findings indicated that the out-of-field phenomenon and its implications should be recognised in order to provide effective and quality teaching, substantial teacher support and sufficient staff development programmes.  相似文献
