Shaking the “Magic 8 Ball”: Reflections of a First-Time Teacher

Social work doctoral candidates and others without much or any formal teaching experience or training are frequently invited to teach a variety of graduate-level social work courses. This beginning teaching experience can be quite challenging both personally and professionally. Yet, it is seldom discussed in the literature, especially from a personal perspective. This paper seeks to address that gap by providing a narrative account of the author's first-time experience teaching an Advanced Clinical Practice course to fifteen second year social work masters students. Included is an examination of influences on the experience of teaching, with particular attention to the importance of attending to student needs, teaching techniques, and to who the “self” is that one brings to teaching. Implications of the author's experience, including an appended “list” of what might have been done differently is presented as a general guide for other new social work educators as well as for those who mentor them.

＂卓越法律人才教育培养计划＂是针对我国现行法律人才培养模式存在的弊端而提出的。卓越法律人才教育培养模式的构建应当从以下几个方面入手：革新＂五重五轻＂的观念,向重视法律应用能力的卓越教育培养理念转变;优化法律人才培养方案,形成高校与实务部门共同制定培养目标、设计课程体系、开发优质教材、组织教学团队、建设实践基地的＂五个梯次＂人才培养格局;强化法学实践教学环节,构建以两个＂基地＂、四个＂平台＂和八个＂专训＂为内容的＂248＂实践性课程教学体系;重构实践教学评价体系,形成教师对学生的评价、高校对教师的评价、实务部门对高校的评价、实务部门对学生的评价所组成的＂四方评价＂闭环系统。     

对外汉语初级阶段复练课教学的几点建议

以往对于对外汉语课堂教学环节的研究主要集中在讲授新课的环节,而对于复习巩固环节的研究还比较薄弱。笔者通过在教学过程中的不断积累和总结,对初级阶段的复练课的教学提出了几点建议。

固体废物处理与处置是高等学校环境工程专业的一门专业主干课程。我们在教学过程中,通过对当前教学现状的分析,结合学校的行业特色及专业培养目标,对本课程教学改革进行了初步的探讨及设想,以期达到更好的教学效果,培养出适应21世纪我国社会主义现代化建设需要的,多层次、多规格的环境工程复合型人才。     

高校会展专业课程实践教学方法探讨——以中山学院会展策划课程为例

随着中国会展行业的日益规范和发达,作为高校学历教育的会展专业也逐渐步入正轨。会展行业广泛的关联性和较强的实践性对会展专业教育提出了两大要求,即会展专业学生必须具备良好的综合素质和较强的学科专业素质,这对高校会展专业学生提出了较高的实践要求。基于此,选取专业实践教学体系中较有代表性的课程实践教学进行分析,以会展策划课程为例,探讨了这类紧密联系课程理论的课程实践教学的特点,并结合中山学院会展专业的教学实践,提炼出会展策划课程实践教学的基本思路及主要方法,以期更好地实现课程实践教学对专业学生理论应用能力的提升作用。     

Utopia vs. reality: the effectiveness of in‐service training courses for EFL teachers

The article explores the long‐term effectiveness of in‐service teacher training courses for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in the Greek educational context. It presents the results of a questionnaire designed and issued to teacher‐trainees a year after the completion of 60‐hour courses. The questionnaire assessed, among others, (a) teacher trainees' beliefs regarding the relevance of the knowledge acquired to their individual needs, (b) the extent to which they used the materials provided in the course, and (c) the usefulness of the subjects offered. The data are discussed in relation to strategies for optimising teacher training services and implications are drawn for the implementation of change in a broader educational context. A ‘cooperative model' is proposed for the promotion of change involving active cooperation between all agents involved in the educational process and necessitating top‐down and bottom‐up cooperation.
