Exploring Social Theory as a Framework for Social and Cultural Measurements of the Information Society

Using Layder's domain theory (1997) as an analytical framework, this article shows how the information society can be measured through various levels of society. Layder's notions of psychobiography, situated activity, social setting, and contextual resources help identify cultural and social indicators for understanding changes in the information society. With the help of empirical indicators for each domain, this article uses the case of Estonia to show that there is often more to the information society than what is captured by traditional measures. This article calls for a context-sensitive approach, which takes into consideration social and cultural indicators. Measurements from all four domains are necessary for understanding the complexity of information-society-related issues.

Effect of Prior Information on String Length Estimates

This article describes an activity through which students collect data and explore ways to display them through graphs and charts. It also motivates various summary measures for location, spread and shape. Finally, it gives an introduction to concepts of validity, reliability and unbiasedness.     

并接两个电光偏转器的激光脉冲稳定性实验研究

介绍用两个相同的电光偏转器相应的电极并联连接后,激光脉冲光束依次通过它们进行偏转扫描的削波整形原理.由实验测出用两个电光偏转器并联比用单个对激光脉冲扫描光线更长,在同样的狭缝宽度下削出更窄的激光脉冲,提高了输出激光脉冲幅度的稳定性,幅度起伏RMS的精度提高了约33.3%,实验结果与理论基本一致.虽还没有达到理论分析预期的效果,但也说明电光偏转器偏转能力还有进一步挖掘的潜力,用电光偏转器进行激光脉冲稳定性的实验研究,在惯性约束核聚变、激光脉冲削波、整形等方面有广泛的应用前景.     

等离子体制备氮化铁磁流体用高频高压脉冲电源的研制

根据等离子体活化装置对电源的要求,利用新型功率器件IGBT设计了一种高频高压大功率脉冲电源,并对IGBT的驱动调制电路、保护电路以及电路频率范围的拓宽和功率提高进行了讨论.结果表明,该电源在功率输出、频率范围、波形等方面均能达到设计要求.     

Using chaos to improve measurement precision

If the measuring signals were input to the chaotic dynamic system as initial parameters, the system outputs might be in steady state, periodic state or chaos state. If the chaotic dynamic system outputs controlled in the periodic states, the periodic numbers would be changed most with the signals. Our novel method is to add chaotic dynamic vibration to the measurement or sensor system. The sensor sensitivity and precision of a measurement system would be improved with this method. Chaotic dynamics measurement algorithms are given and their sensitivity to parameters are analyzed in this paper. The effects of noises on the system are discussed. 饱和型感染率脉冲接种SIRS的模型分析

研究了具有饱和接触率、常数输入、指数死亡以及暂时免疫和脉冲接种的SIRS模型,利用频闪映射、脉冲不等式等理论,得到了无病周期解全局渐进稳定的结论。
