在新形势下发展党员工作,是高校党建工作的一项重要任务。高校发展党员应遵循“坚持标准,保证质量,改善结构,慎重发展”的方针。在发展党员工作中要做到高标准、严把关,择优发展。只有以改革和创新的精神对待和解决存在的新情况、新问题,才能把发展党员工作做好。     

Looming crisis in graduate science education: Where are America's top science students?

Only 750 physics doctorates were awarded to American students during 1990–1991 from a population base of over 248 million people. Even institutions such as MIT are having difficulty attracting enough top American students to its graduate programs in the sciences. We discuss some of the reasons for the decline in domestic student participation in the sciences and offer several nuts-and-bolts methods to reverse this trend. Key ingredients include graduate student recruiting, motivational activities to promote the excitement of being a professional scientist, and a reeducation of employers to look more favorably toward hiring students from the basic sciences. The methods have resulted in dramatic changes in the composition of recent graduate classes; at Auburn University we now admit an incoming class composed of over 70% domestic students.

The efficacy of talent selection criteria in the Australian Football League

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the association between talent selection criteria, draft order and match performance in professional Australian Football players. Physical performance results from the Australian Football League (AFL) National Draft combine and non-performance based talent selection criteria were collated for all players drafted in the National Draft with selections 1–80 between 2003 and 2008 (n = 318). Match performance was assessed via the AFL Player Ranking metric that was provided by a commercial statistical provider (Champion Data Pty Ltd). A combination of stepwise multiple regression and linear mixed model analyses examined the influence of National Draft combine physical performance assessments and non-performance based talent selection criteria on draft order and future match performance. Earlier draft selection was associated with Under-18 all Australian team selection, height, Under-18 National Championship participation and indigenous status. The 20 m sprint and state of origin were associated with later draft selection. Under-18 all Australian team selection increased both Player Ranking/game and total Player Ranking. Under-18 all Australian team selection displays efficacy for selecting players with the potential for success.     

中国现行海外留学人员引进政策特征研究

随着知识经济步伐的临近,人才已成为极其重要的战略资源,其在综合国力竞争中愈发具有决定意义.在此背景下,中国各级政府及高校积极制订高端人才引进政策,而海外留学人员则是主要目标群体.以中国现行海外留学人员引进政策为对象,析出其五大特征：第一,资质标准趋于严格;第二,地方性政策为数甚多且着眼点有所不同;第三,物质条件的比重增大;第四,引才方式多样化;第五,风险控制机制日渐完善.     

试论扩招与高校体育师资队伍建设

分析我国高校扩招后体育师资现状及存在的主要问题 ,并结合当前高校扩招形势和笔者从事多年高校体育教学工作的实际 ,探讨扩招后高校体育师资队伍的基本思路和主要对策。     

Recoding Discourses in Higher Education: Critical Views on Recruiting Materials for Latin@ College Students

R. Stanton-Salazar (1997) suggested that minority students who successfully navigate the contexts of higher education are able to do so by “decoding” the system. Rather than obligating students to decode the system, we contend that institutions should recode the information they provide to prospective students from minority backgrounds. We focus on the promotional materials of an aspiring Hispanic-Serving Institution for our analysis.
