From Inarticulacy to Care

This article seeks to critically re-open the closed structure of news coverage of ethnic minorities by proposing a dialogical model of representation, which evokes mutual understanding across differences through well-crafted narratives of minority experiences. Informed by Mikhail Bakhtin and Charles Taylor, it explores the notion of “dialogue” within journalistic narratives and delineates two dialogical approaches, namely the evaluative articulation of moral values and the polyphonic incorporation of different voices. The former suggests that journalists should employ nuanced languages to situate ethnic minorities’ aspirations and experiences in a common “horizon of significance”. The latter challenges the hegemonic monologue of an ostensibly objective narration and accentuates the manifold voices from ordinary people, urging the journalists to rethink their positionality as narrators. Two cases are analyzed to reveal how the dialogic representation can be realized in news reporting, calling for a transition from “ethics of inarticulacy” to ethics of care in journalism practices.     

Placing Facebook

Facebook is challenging professional journalism. These challenges were evident in three incidents from 2016: the allegation that Facebook privileged progressive-leaning news on its trending feature; Facebook’s removal of the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Napalm Girl” photo from the pages of prominent users; and the proliferation of “fake news” during the US presidential election. Using theoretical concepts from the field of boundary work, this paper examines how The Guardian, The New York Times, Columbia Journalism Review and Poynter editorialized Facebook’s role in these three incidents to discursively construct the boundary between the value of professional journalism to democracy and Facebook’s ascendant role in facilitating essential democratic functions. Findings reveal that these publications attempted to define Facebook as a news organization (i.e., include it within the boundaries of journalism) so that they could then criticize the company for not following duties traditionally incumbent upon news organizations (i.e., place it outside the boundaries of journalism). This paper advances scholarship that focuses on both inward and outward conceptions of boundary work, further explores the complex challenge of defining who a journalist is in the face of rapidly changing technological norms, and advances scholarship in the field of media ethics that positions ethical analysis at the institutional level.

论房地产开发企业的伦理建设问题

迄今为止,很少有文献具体地论及到房地产开发企业的伦理问题。本文首先分析了当前房地产开发中伦理缺失的种种表象,接着探讨了房地产开发中伦理建设的主要内容,最后给出了加强房地产企业伦理建设的思路与对策。     

高h指数学者在科学共同体中的作用研究——以我国图书情报学为例

[目的/意义] 对科学共同体中权威学者的地位与作用开展研究,以合著网络结构分析为视角,将网络分析与高h指数学者的作用研究相结合,从作者节点所处的网络结构与位置中探寻学者的影响力与作用发挥,为科学共同体的实证性研究开辟新的途径。[方法/过程] 以我国图书情报学科为例,选取33位高h指数学者作为研究对象,采集发文数据,提取合著关系,通过构建合著关系网络,采用网络分析技术对节点的中心性、聚集性、结构洞特征等进行分析。[结果/结论] 数据分析表明:绝大部分高h指数学者在网络结构中占据核心位置,学者之间联系紧密,在科学共同体中起到引领学科发展方向、建立和维护学科规范、加强科学交流与知识传播以及培育人才等重要作用。     

中文核心医药期刊官网生物医学研究伦理审查制度建设现状与提升策略

对中文核心医药期刊官网中的生物医学研究伦理审查制度建设现状进行调查分析,为加强我国生物医学研究伦理审查制度建设提供参考.从《中文核心期刊要目总览(2017年版)》收录的255种医药期刊中随机选取100种中文核心医药期刊作为研究对象,登录这100种医药期刊官网,对生物医学研究伦理审查要求进行分析.结果 表明:在100种中文核心医药期刊官网中,稿约或投稿指南对生物医学研究伦理审查有要求的期刊51种,其中对临床试验伦理审查要求最多(49种期刊),对提供临床试验注册号要求最少(12种期刊);官网主页设置"医学伦理"栏目的 只有10种期刊,其中对临床试验伦理审查与动物实验伦理审查要求最多(9种期刊),只有3种期刊有上传生物医学研究伦理审查办法文件.有6种期刊在稿约对生物医学研究伦理学有要求的同时,在主页也设置了"医学伦理"栏目.可见,中文核心期刊官网对生物医学研究伦理审查不够重视,应进一步加强医学伦理审查制度的建设.科技期刊编辑部应与国际接轨,学习国际著名期刊的做法,更新办刊理念;利用好官网提供生物医学研究伦理学习资源,对作者进行医学伦理教育;应制定统一的生物医学研究伦理审查规范.
