Analyzing 219 blog posts from 52 self-employed women lifestyle bloggers in North America, this study shows how these digital professionals navigate tensions and communicatively constitute work flexibility. In their narratives, women bloggers employed tension management approaches such as reframing, continual connections, and reflective practice in response to tensions in enacting temporal–spatial, identity, and financial flexibility. Specifically, women followed oxymoronic constructions – disciplined freedom, branded authenticity, and dependable independence – to embrace and transform competing poles of fluidity?structure, authenticity?marketability, and independence?interconnection. Expanding work–life research to the self-employed digital labor context, this study responds to recent calls to uncover more-than tension management strategies in empirical settings and contributes to a tension-centered, contextual, and processual analysis of workplace flexibility construction.  相似文献

The Australian National University Archives holds both the archives of the University and a large collection of business and labour archives in the Noel Butlin Archives Centre. Both are governed by collecting policies, and neither of these policies mention gender. This article reviews the Invisible Farmer project – the largest study of Australian women on the land – a third of the way through its three year funding period. It introduces the aims of this collaborative and multidisciplinary project, focusing on the role of records and oral histories in the creation of new narratives, and the task of raising public awareness of the important historical and contemporary contributions made by Australian women farmers. We examine the way digital platforms work to curate records and promote research, and outline the important role that the Australian Women’s Register, a core project of the Australian Women’s Archives Project, will play in achieving outcomes.  相似文献

社会化阅读是伴随着互联网特别是移动互联网而产生的一种具有虚拟社区特点的全新阅读模式。为了全面揭示和解释社会化阅读用户的情感和行为,本文将组织行为学中的心理契约理论延展到社会化阅读虚拟社区,通过构建研究模型,采用焦点小组访谈与问卷调查相结合的方法进行实证检验;探究了用户感知信息价值和感知社交价值对其心理契约违背的影响,以及用户在社群化阅读的情境下心理契约遭到违背后所引发的退出、建言、忠诚和忽略行为。研究表明:①感知社交价值和感知信息价值与用户的心理契约违背之间均有显著的负相关关系,但对交易型和关系型两种不同类型的心理契约影响有所差异;②社会化阅读用户的交易型心理契约违背与建言行为和忠诚行为均呈负向显著关系,但与忽略行为和退出行为并无显著关系;③关系型心理契约违背与建言行为和忠诚行为呈负向显著关系,与退出行为和忽略行为呈正向显著关系。图2。表6。参考文献 57。  相似文献

文章以用户在微博上发表的对公共图书馆噪音的看法为数据来源,使用内容分析和情感分析方法研究用户对噪音的认知,分析噪音的来源。研究发现:用户对公共图书馆的噪音问题表示关注和不满;大城市公共图书馆被用户提及最多;用户认为安静才是公共图书馆的应有之义;在用户认为的噪音来源中,用户因素远高于其他因素,最主要的噪音源是少年儿童吵闹。对策包括:转变用户对公共图书馆严肃安静的刻板印象;依据用户需求合理规划空间;改进馆内管理工作。  相似文献

This article describes the ongoing efforts at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Libraries to evolve the role of the institutional repository (IR) and to effectively position it within the context of the Libraries’ collections, research support, and scholarly communication services. A major component of this process is re-examining the fundamental aims of the IR and aligning it to the Libraries and the campus strategic goals. The authors situate UNLV Libraries’ experience within the context of the current literature to provide background and reasoning for our decision to pursue two, at times conflicting, aims for the IR: one for scholarly communication and another for research administration.  相似文献

Digital inclusion is a strategy pursued to foster social inclusion of those who have been sidelined from the mainstream of information society due to lack of access to digital technologies and the skills to use them. Libraries have been working to close the gap by providing access to computers, the Internet, digital content, and digital literacy programs. However, research reveals a new type of divide where digitally competent people could be digitally excluded. This shows the need for a better conceptualization of access and literacy. This paper commits to exploring the concept of access to digital content from the perspective of people with print disability. It involved in-depth interviews with ten participants with print disability where the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health was used as a framework for data analysis. The overall analysis shows that digital inclusion would be more meaningful if it involved providing content in alternative formats and empowering users to make informed choices. Issues such as flexibility and adaptability in content presentation and design of content discovery tools are among those discussed.  相似文献

We have studied the efficiency of research in the EU by a percentile-based citation approach that analyzes the distribution of country papers among the world papers. Going up in the citation scale, the frequency of papers from efficient countries increases while the frequency from inefficient countries decreases. In the percentile-based approach, this trend, which is uniform at any citation level, is measured by the ep index that equals the Ptop 1%/Ptop 10% ratio. By using the ep index we demonstrate that EU research on fast-evolving technological topics is less efficient than the world average and that the EU is far from being able to compete with the most advanced countries. The ep index also shows that the USA is well ahead of the EU in both fast- and slow-evolving technologies, which suggests that the advantage of the USA over the EU in innovation is due to low research efficiency in the EU. In accord with some previous studies, our results show that the European Commission’s ongoing claims about the excellence of EU research are based on a wrong diagnosis. The EU must focus its research policy on the improvement of its inefficient research. Otherwise, the future of Europeans is at risk.  相似文献
