Health information seeking behaviour: the librarian's role in supporting digital and health literacy

This paper is based on Rachel Butler's dissertation carried out at the University of Sheffield as part of the MA Library and Information Services Management. The study examines people's online health information seeking skills, with the specific aim to identify how libraries and health services can work together in supporting digital and health literacy. A survey approach is used to explore online searching habits as well as librarian and health professionals’ views on health literacy. The key findings indicate that whilst the majority of respondents consider themselves to be health literate, there was an overall agreement that effective education and support could be achieved through the collaboration between libraries and health services, and specifically to signpost information and to provide targeted education. The limitations of the research for dissertation are recognised leading to recommendations that further study focuses on the impact of signposting and education on health literacy.F.J.

一条鞭法既是明代东南地区赋役改革的总结,又是中国古代的一项重要赋役制度改革,不仅简化了赋役项目和征收手续,以银代役,而且赋役合一,具备了摊丁入地的因素,为赋役征收的一元化,迈出了重要的一步.但一条鞭法是带有浓厚东南地域色彩的赋役制度,在北方推广时遭到强烈的抵制.通过对一条鞭法在北方推行过程中所出现问题的探研,探讨区域政策推行全国过程中产生矛盾的原因.     

Cognitive and social help giving in online teaching: an exploratory study

While literature suggests that college students may be less reluctant to seek help in online rather than traditional courses, little is known about how online instructors give help in ways that lead to increased student help seeking and academic success. In this study, we used theories and research on learning assistance and scaffolding, teacher immediacy, social presence, and academic help seeking to explore through a cross-case study design how three online instructors differed in their use of cognitive and social supports and how those differences related to student perceptions of support, help seeking, and performance. Primary data sources included all course postings by the instructors, interviews with the instructors, observational field notes on course discussions, student interviews, and final student grades. Archived course documents and student discussion postings were secondary data sources. Data analysis revealed that while all instructors provided cognitive and social support, they varied in their level of questioning, use of direct instruction, support for task structuring, and attention to group dynamics. This variation in teaching presence related to differences across the courses in student perceptions of support, student help seeking in course discussions, and final course grades. Implications for online teaching and suggestions for further research are offered.

风险资本给创业家族企业带来什么?——基于中国创业板上市公司的经验证据

以2009—2013年在中国创业板上市的199家企业为样本,实证检验风险资本持股对创业家族企业和非创业家族企业绩效影响的差异。研究发现,相对于风险资本持股的非创业家族企业,风险资本持股的创业家族企业具有更高的销售收入增长率和员工人数增长率。进一步的研究发现,风险资本持股较高时,风险资本在企业扩张期进入时,以及企业所在地区成熟度较高时,风险资本对创业家族和非家族企业成长转型作用差异明显。因而,有必要强调风险资本投资方式和外部经营环境在创业家族引进风险资本过程中的重要性。     

公司创业导向的差异分析——基于环渤海地区企业所有权差异的实证研究

基于中国转型期的背景,通过185份有效问卷,分析基于环渤海地区国有控股、民营控股和外资控股所有权差异基础上的创业导向差异。发现公司创业导向构成维度具有独立变动性,国有控股企业与民营控股、外资控股企业间具有明显的创业导向差异。
