协商理念在大学英语多媒体教学中的运用

课堂教学是外语学习的主要渠道,多媒体辅助教学改善了外语学习的环境,但也带来了师生互动减少的问题。协商教学为大学英语多媒体课堂的教学注入了新的活力,协商理念中的个体协商、互动协商和过程协商符合语言教学的规律与特点,能够让学习者参与课堂决策的制定,从而发挥多媒体教学的优势,提高外语学习的课堂效率。     

大学生职业决策自我效能与就业压力分析

通过《主动性人格问卷》、《职业决策自我效能量表》和《就业压力问卷》对399名大学毕业班学生进行调查,结果显示不同就业压力的大学生职业决策自我效能存在显著差异,不同主动性人格大学生就业压力与职业决策自我效能存在显著差异。     

Psychophenomenology and the explicitation interview for accessing subjective lived experience in sport coaching

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this position paper is to promote the interest, usefulness and specificity of a coherent system that is based on psychophenomenology as a theoretical framework [Vermersch, P. (2012). Explicitation et phénoménologie. Paris: PUF], and the explicitation interview [Vermersch, P. (2009). Describing the practice of introspection. Journal of Consciousness Studies, 16(10–12), 20–57] as an appropriate and original method for studying the subjective lived experience of participants in sport situations. This original approach is associated with an epistemological posture which accords significant importance to the first-person point of view (i.e. what is appearing to a person about his own subjective lived experience in a past situation). After presenting some limitations in other phenomenological approaches and interview methods, we highlight the specificity of the theoretical background and the method of explicitation interview, for describing in detail the actions and understanding the lived experience of a person in a past and singular situation. To demonstrate the potential of this approach, we provide two specific examples of explicitation interview data from an in-match player decision-making situation and an in-game half-time speech of a coach. In concluding, we contend that psychophenomenology and the explicitation interview present new perspectives and opportunities for coach education, by developing the analysis of the subjective lived experience. This may have important implications for sport-related research and the development of coaching practice and formal coach education, through closer links to real life experiences.     

Decision-making models in a Tunisian university: Towards a framework for analysis

Abstract

This study investigates how decisions are made in Tunisian public higher education establishments. Some factors are identified as having a potentially significant impact on the odds that the decision-making process follows the characteristics of one of the most well known decision-making models: collegial, political, bureaucratic or anarchical model. For this, this investigation was based on some statistical methods related to qualitative variables and allowing to measure whether the hypotheses, identified through an inductive analysis, are expressible in the same terms and with the same acuteness in all Tunisian public higher education establishments. In particular, the results showed that how decisions are made is related to the nature of the decision itself: collegiality for pedagogic and scientific decisions, bureaucratic for decisions related to institutional management and politic for academic personnel decisions. This finding can help the university leadership to evaluate and improve the governance in the higher education establishment.     

Hooking Up in Young Adulthood: A Review of Factors Influencing the Sexual Behavior of College Students

Hooking up, or casual “no strings attached” sexual encounters, has become the normative heterosexual relationship on college campuses. This phenomenon has only recently received public attention. Many citizens have become alarmed that this trend is indicative of moral decline in our culture, a reflection of our hypersexualized media, and a promotion of sexual irresponsibility. However, this is not necessarily so, and researchers have come to identify both social and psychological factors that have produced and continue to maintain this sexual environment on campuses. This paper will review some factors that previous research has discussed, including the shift in intimacy over the past century, social norms enforced by peer groups, psychological attachment style, and the developmental transition period between adolescence and adulthood. Implications for students and psychotherapists who work with students will be discussed.

Data Privacy and Academic Libraries: Non-PII,PII, and Librarians’ Reflections (Part 2)

Abstract

Using personally identifiable information (PII) (patron data) to make informed decisions in academic libraries through learning analytics programs has increasingly become more commonplace. In this column, we discuss how libraries around the world have used PII to make informed decisions about hours (gate count), electronic resources (collection usage and authentication), and research assistance (virtual reference). In addition, we discuss the use of learning analytics in library environments including the benefits and concerns associated with its use. Finally, we discuss how we have used PII at our institution’s library and the data metrics we plan utilize at some point in the future.     

Comic Books in Libraries,Archives and Media Centers

The ubiquitousness and relatively low cost of comic books, combined with their proven socio-historical, recreational, and educational value, render them a highly desirable commodity in libraries, archives, and classroom collections. The article offers practical guidelines for the evaluation and acquisition of these materials. A concise history of the field and many useful appendices (e.g., bestseller lists, a bibliography, a breakdown of currently issued titles) have been included.
