Attitudes and coping practices of using mobile phones for teaching and learning in a Uganda secondary school

This study investigated the opportunities for learning afforded by access to mobile phones, and the associated challenges created by their use in a peri-urban private secondary school in Uganda. The study was motivated by availability of phones with facilities to connect to the Internet and to access free open education resources (OERs), which if used appropriately, could support changes in pedagogy required to promote learning in rural schools in Uganda. Information was collected using interviews, observations and focus group discussions with parents, students and their teachers between June 2014 and July 2015. Results show a slow positive change in attitude amongst teachers and parents that phones are useful in learning; an increased enthusiasm and eagerness among students, and more engaging and interactive lessons. Some teachers found challenges in accessing education resources due to poor Internet connectivity, while others required skills and knowledge about appropriate OERs that promote interactive learning. The study recommends re-skilling of teachers to use mobile phones to access the Internet, use of OERs and ICT interactive pedagogies especially in schools with limited access to computers and Internet connectivity.

Best Interlibrary Loan Practices for Law Firm Libraries

Abstract

Many of the processes for interlibrary loan are not unique to law firms, but may have unique applications given the substantially shorter deadlines and the possibility of allowing increased costs. Rapid borrowing of standard and obscure material-same day or next day deliv-ery-via interlibrary loan is considered standard. Within that environment, learning how to make tools which will work the first time can make the difference between meeting deadlines and failure. Discussion includes principles of interlibrary loan behind the immediate transaction, a discussion of applying “fair use” to a law firm context, the history and philosophy of interlibrary loan, and the nature of collaboration. Specific tools for interlibrary loan are discussed with an application to a law firm library context. Bibliographic utilities (like OCLC) and the use of lender Online Public Access Catalogs are discussed for maximizing the percentage of first attempt affirmative responses. The role of consortia and the use of online resources are discussed, with an eye towards licensing issues that can prevent lending libraries from providing information. Lending and borrowing policies are discussed with a focus on the nature of reciprocity. The positive and negative impact of using broadcast e-mails to identify and find resources is outlined. Request transmission protocols like the ALA form, OCLC and other methods of request transmission are discussed within the context of law firm interlibrary loan. Protocols for when transactions go awry are discussed. The role of continuing education is emphasized.     

政策工具视角下中国体育服务综合体相关政策分析

本文采用构建政策分析框架、界定分析单元、编码归类的方法对6份国家级关于体育服务综合体的政策文本进行单元编码与内容分析。研究结果表明:政府在政策制定中,环境型工具在政策工具的使用中过于频繁,而无论是供给型工具又或是政策工具,其实际使用频率均处于较低水平;建议:适度降低环境型工具在实际操作中的使用频率,降低策略性工具的比重,强调供给型政策工具对体育服务综合体发展的推动作用,进一步强调体育服务综合体发展的中长期规划,加强与其他体育产业链的协同协作机制。

基于字书字料库本借关系界面的古音学研究刍议

基于字书字料库本借关系界面进行古音学研究,不仅是因为字书字料库本借关系属性库的设计符合古音学研究的要求,还缘于它能够为古音学研究提供大量汉字考辨资料和便捷的统计功能。但限于其性质,字书字料库本借关系界面在研究的广度上存在一定的局限性,在进行不同时期、不同地域古音面貌的比较研究时会遇到较多障碍。因此,基于字书字料库本借关系界面的古音学研究在材料选取阶段要将同义词互代、字形讹误等不属于古音通假的材料剔除,在字料信息标注阶段要运用科学的方法解决字料声韵信息标注过程中遇到的问题。文章以字书字料库为研究工具对李方桂先生的明母研究成果以及王力先生的古韵30部小类划分结果进行了验证,证明了字书字料库本借关系界面能够在部分古音学研究中发挥重要作用,应用前景较为广阔。

对数控编程计算机碰撞仿真加工进行分析和研究:通过在UG NX中进行二次开发,探讨了在UG NX中开发数控机床切削仿真加工环境的方法,并以DMU 70cV万能数控铣五轴联动加工中心为例,详细介绍了在UG NX中对特殊结构的数控机床的切削仿真加工环境进行开发的方法,开发了DMU 70eV在UG NX中的碰撞仿真加工环境。
