Promoting creativity in PhD supervision: Tensions and dilemmas

In this paper we argue that the processes of collaborative creativity are just as important within the sociocultural context of PhD supervisory practice, as they are in other organizational and educational settings. In order to test this claim a series of interviews with supervisors and students were undertaken to uncover the pedagogic processes used to encourage and support creativity within supervision sessions. The findings from this small-scale study suggest that whilst the more formal instruction and monitoring processes that lead to the acquisition of transferrable research skills are both usefully and necessary aspects of doctoral training, the more open-ended and creative developments required at this level of study should be given equal weight. There needs to be space, time and encouragement for the types of interactions identified here (e.g. informal reflection, relationship building with peers and supervisor, playful exploration and risk taking) as well as mandatory skills development.

师生互动模式与博士生的知识生产--以M大学化学学科某实验室为例

博士生是知识生产的重要贡献者,在博士生知识生产的过程中,师生合作与互动的影响不可忽视。本文从博士生社会化和学生自我调节的理论出发,以一所"双一流"高校(以下简称M大学)化学学科的某实验室为例,采用案例分析法,并综合运用深度访谈、参与式观察、文献计量等方式进行数据收集,以分析博士生知识生产过程中的师生互动模式对知识生产所带来的影响。研究发现,化学实验室中的知识生产存在不确定性,不同的师生互动关系会带来四种差异化的知识产出结果,且学生的内在动力对于知识生产的结果起着更为关键的作用。     

高等学校教学督导理念和体制机制问题探析

考察我国教育督导制度的设计及其效果,发现根本的问题是教学督导委员会组成人员的教学理念问题和知识结构问题,特别是学校为委员会设计的评价标准问题。解决这一问题需要逐步建立教师对教学督导的认同感,同时建立教学督导人员的遴选标准和课堂教学评价新理念新标准。     

引入独立董事制度后的现实思考——兼析我国公司治理中监督体系的构建

通过对我国公司治理进程中引入独立董事制度近五年来的境况分析,简要谈谈对当前我国公司治理中监督体系构建的思考,并针对监事会与独立董事这两种制度的运行模式提出了"并轨过渡、取向独董"的个人观点.

建立中国破产监督人制度之我见

在破产案件审理过程中，目前我国立法在债权人会议的决议权方面规定得比较充分，而在具体参与权的行使以及对程序进行的制约和监督方面却相对薄弱。只有建立起完善的破产监督人制度，才能有效地保护债权人的利益，把债权人的利益落到实处，体现执法的公正性。

From Core Competencies to Desired Traits

Abstract

Reference librarianship in academic libraries has entered into a new century, and the profession will need competent reference managers more than ever. Gone are the days when a reference librarian was promoted to head the reference department based on an interest in supervising others, longevity and experience. The number of applicants in search pools for head of reference positions continues to decline. As the demand for electronic products and other venues of convenience for information delivery continues to increase, the nature of reference practice will change to meet the needs of the user. Unless one prepares for it, that change will be involuntary. This paper examines some of the qualifications, or desired traits, librarians should have who are interested in head of reference positions.     

Student-centred and teacher-centred science classrooms as visualized by science teachers and their supervisors

The current study examined how in-service science teachers and their supervisors visualized student-centred and teacher-centred science classrooms. The grade levels covered in the study were grades 1–12. We used a modified Draw-A-Science-Teacher-Test Checklist (DASTT-C) tool. The findings revealed that both groups viewed science teaching in schools to be more teacher-centred. When asked to sketch a “student-centred classroom”, science supervisors were able to produce better drawings that reflected a student-centred teaching environment compared to science teachers. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in terms of science teachers’ gender, teaching experience and grade level.
